I often wonder what I did wrong in my life to deserve to end up at Union Pacific.
I knew before that the situation here is not good at all, but I thought people were exaggerating and it couldn’t be this bad.
This is one big joke of a company from which I want to leave as soon as possible. The fact that the job market currently is bad and jobs are not falling from the sky works in their favor, but still, I think anyone who puts in enough effort can find much better jobs for themselves.
UP is not the only company in the world. Yesterday I sent as many job applications as I could, and even to openings where I think my chances are minimal.

I'd leave but this company is like watching two trains collide. You don't want it to happen but you just can't stop yourself from watching. The level of stupidity that they put in charge now days is amazing. I'm just sitting back with my popcorn watching the show and collecting the check.
@1zam You must have liked what you saw because you keep posting about it.
I got my first bj on the railroad many years ago! Boy how I wish for those days again!
My suggestion is quit. Complaining about the situation will get you nowhere. There are many companies that can’t get enough workers. If you really hate your job then do something about it. UP isn’t going to suddenly change and become a great place to work. They will never go back to running the company as before. It sucks, but this is reality.
“Why did you apply for a job here?”
It seemed like a stable company that was said to pay well at the time. Neither turned out to be true. Quit (no notice) as soon as I was off the hook for the relocation package. No regrets.
I'm 3rd generation. Watched the railroad give my family a good life. Also have watched where UP has gotten so good at beating the unions that our wages have not kept up with inflation. This isn't a good paying job anymore. If I wasn't close to retiring I'd leave. There won't be a another generation from my family coming to UP for a career.
This job is cool, I carpooled for awhile and found out my partner was a cross dresser named G.
For the group hugs and company provided wipes...where else can you spend half your day crying about how mean the bosses are.
The judge told me to go to prison or join UP. Now I’m a manager with two degrees from Bellevue University. UP has been good to me. Stick with it guys.
