How to submit resignation

I feel d-mb asking this, but I can’t even figure out where to go on the employee website to submit my resignation. Is there a form to fill out, or do I just submit a resignation letter to my director, or what? Does anyone have a link to information on how to formally resign? I am non-agreement.

Thank you.

You don’t need to give a two week notice…ph-k em let them figure it out…but you do need to OFFICIALLY resign for them to payout any unused vacation time…so just email and CC a bunch of people your resignation letter

You just tell your manager your intention and write a note.

One thing I noticed is how the management vacation policy is written now…it’s says “if you retire/leave company without providing company notice, you will be paid for accrued unused time not taken in the current year in accordance with state payroll regulations”…it doesn’t specify what what happens to accrued time earned for the following year, if you don’t provide notice. To me it implies the company won’t pay for accrued time earned for the following year if you don’t give notice…just something to consider as you decide on providing notice or not.

As a former non agreement manager in engineering, I must have been a rare case then. When I quit, I called my director and gave him my 2 weeks notice. They were a little bummed because they allegedly had plans for me to take over a Denver position. They let me finish the two weeks, and on my last day I left my company truck in the Council Bluffs yard.

@1yzu What? People are quitting for a reason in case you're not aware. Why would they want to go back? I was at the UP for 27 years and never saw anyone finish out there two weeks. The moment you submit a letter of resignation, they WILL walk you out within hours of your submission and label it a termination. That does two things effectively. It eliminates the unemployment obligation and removes the chance of you ever going back. The UP will slap a label on your name as a no-rehire. You're better off staying until you get furloughed, to avoid being labeled in case you would ever want to go back. One poster already said something about doing it the correct and polite way, but it DOES NOT mean the UP will honor it the correct and polite way. Yes you should do it the correct way, but that means you'd have to trust the very company who's been hurting and ruining peoples lives for the last several years in the interest of the shareholders. Would you want to go back to that someday? I left after 27 years in the industry for a good reason! My reason for leaving hasn't changed, and I have ZERO desire to ever see that place again after what they did to my co-workers.

I have seen a manager give 2 weeks notice at 8Am, by 10 Am they had his keys, phone , credit card and walked him to curb edge of Up property. His wife had to pick him up to go home . Be sure to use all vacation, sick days , as they don’t pay those after you retire or quit.

I just walked off and told them to kiss my rear end device.

Now why in the world wide of sports would you fill out a resignation letter when UP is walking people out. Just walk out . Dont look back.

Don’t resign unless you already have a job lined up…Just quiet quit on them…force them to furlough you so you can get some of YOUR unemployment money back

Provide your manager the resignation letter and he or she will provide it to wrbp for further handling. They may have you continue to work the 2 weeks and they may not, depending on your situation and job honestly. Don’t listen to the other comments. Always leave on good turn as you never know if you will ever return again another day. Best of luck to you!

Do NOT give a two weeks notice. You will be vacated the same day you give notice. 2024 around the corner. Wait it out, burn vacation, personal days and sick days. Use that time wisely for job search.

Why submit a formal resignation letter? I wouldn't do them any favors. They WILL NOT do the same for you. The moment you submit that letter, you will be walked out! I know it's the polite and proper thing to do, but it's never worked out for anyone that did it the "correct" way. If you plan to leave, then just call your immediate supervisor, tell them you're quitting effective immediately. That way there's no chance for them to respond by walking you out or possibly having a confrontational meeting.
