Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

VLO Offer!!!

For those of you who guessed one week of pay for every year of service – good guess you were right
3 months extended medical benefits
April 27th you will either receive the offer which you can accept or you can apply through worklife
June 5th will be the last day worked
What the email doesn't say is – You can apply for unemployment afterwards, since they announced that if not enough people volunteer there will be workforce cuts. You can select layoff not quit.
I asked ESD months ago before they become unreachable. But with Corona such an issue now it might be hard to get money now
Obviously don't take this offer if you can't afford it. Use your brain don't ruin your life
There's probably going to be a mass layoff anyways. I could be wrong, but that's how it seems
Im taking the VLO. I can't wait
Good luck

I got out (retired)in February after 33 years at The Boeing Co. I could not wait. The NuBoeing is being run by the 1st kid that raises their hands and kisses the best a–...It is sickening to those of us that have been around awhile to watch this Company fail so badly. They want the old people gone.

Exactly....absolutely no one is practicing “social distancing.” Not that it’s entirely possible. Not to mention every time a manager walks away people take their masks off.

I no where near retirement age so I can’t do the VLO. But I, along with alotta others are worried about the impending layoffs. It’s apart of Boeing but doesn’t make it any easier. For now though I’m glad to still have my job. Alotta people don’t.

I might take vlo too. There will surely be a second wave in Autumn. Hopefully we will have more test kits. But will we be in lock down again? No one at work is really practing safe social distancing right now at work.

I was reading a worklife knowledge article about VLOs and it said you must have 1 year of service to be eligible. So you are probably right
Im pretty sure yesterday I read that if you don't receive an invite, that you can request it. Ill try to find it again
And that is a good point I didn't think about that. So anyone with less than 8 years of service might as well stay they will get 60 days (8 weeks) of pay if there's a lay off

You don’t apply you get invited. I hope you’re right about less than one year getting the opportunity but I think your wrong there too. Who would take a vlo without severance when they could just get laid off and get a 60 day warm notice. The invites come out soon.

You can apply, there's no seniority requirement
Only thing is, if you have been with the company less than 1 year you won't get any severance pay

Really think this over. The full pay unemployment will not last forever. Where will you work and make your current level of income in this economy? With unemployment in the state averaging 8% it might be slim pickings for some time. If you have a family and a mortgage stay put.

100% you will be eligible for unemployment if you take VLO. If you are eligible for VLO you will get offer letter (email) April 27 acceptance or denial on May 4 if accepted last day of work June 5.

I have to wait for a mass layoff but for any that can do it. This is as good as its ever gonna get. Obvious the company is in rapid descent!

Very sad for us to watch this sh– show go down to our formerly great company. Great about 15 years ago though, its been a gradual death or contamination of greed and entitlement.

Rest In Peace TBC
