Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What's going to happen to In Home Experts?

Just curious... Exactly why will AT&T need the In Home Experts when DirecTV switches to streaming only... DirecTV Now? It is an outrageously expensive and bloated idea that cannot possibly be making any money whatsoever. A company car, insurance, fuel, a trunk safe for inventory, all the phones, tablets and accessories, the liability of sending young men and women into complete strangers homes... Sometimes in the middle of nowhere! I just can't see the long term viability of this bloated service... Unless they close retail... To be continued...

Well let's see there genius... Fifteen IHX's.... 15 Cars, 15 insurance policies, 15 trunk safes with separate inventory, 15 times the liability of sending individuals into unknown homes, etc, etc. One store... With 15 reps... IN ONE STORE! Duh... I don't know how IHX could possibly cost more!!!

Lets compare costs against retail:

You said IHX is too costly because...

“A company car, insurance, fuel, a trunk safe for inventory, all the phones, tablets and accessories, the liability of sending young men and women into complete strangers homes.”

IHX vs Retail

Company Car (IHX) vs Store Rent (Retail)

Insurance (IHX) vs Insurance (Retail)

Fuel (IHX) vs Power Bill (Retail)

Phones, Tablets, Accessories (IHX and Retail)

Liability (IHX) vs liability trips falls robbery (Retail)

Not to mention no cleaning crews, fixture costs, facility repairs, etc.

I don’t see how one can logically say IHX overhead is higher.

I can’t stop laughing at this. Do you have any idea how much a stores overhead is? How much is your rent monthly? How much it cost for all your inventory and live displays? And most importantly how it cost the company To keep useless RSCs around. Seriously sit back and figure that out first before you try to say an IHX cost the company more. I feel like this post is by someone that tried to get into the IHX side but your numbers are garbage so you are stuck trying to build yourself up on here behind an anonymous name instead of actually trying to be successful at your current job.

Just do yourself a favor. Update your resume and go find a job you like and one you can perform well in.

No one's job is safe because AT&T doesn't give a rat's a$$ about the people who work for it. The only reason AT&T seems to exist is to benefit the shareholders. All those dividends paid on your AT&T stock are paid by the blood of human beings.

You think your “union” jobs are safe? Think again. CWA posts layoff reports ALL THE TIME. The only time you are safe is when you have a network and perform. Must have both to survive.

One thing we know for sure is that this position is growing. They keep hiring more and more people. At least we know is going to last longer that many other positions. I would want to go there just so I can get rid of the union and get more tuition reimbursement than what I currently get as a bargaining employee.

As a Home Expert I’m offended by this! Many times we are able to add services to the existing account that more than pay for our salaries. This is the best position the company has ever created. And bye the way, I hit 150% of my sales target last month.

IHX was created to relieve the saturation of full time employees in COR retail. in the event that the IHX department gets surplussed, the company doesn’t have worry about a union getting in the way of a mass layoff.

in the event COR retail has another strike, the company can pull from the IHX field to work in the stores so they don’t have fly out managers from other states to fill in.

You are forgetting to mention the fact that ONE ARSM territory sells more than an ENTIRE IHX MARKET that has hundreds of cars on the road. A few stores is not costing nearly what all those cars and salaries are #suchajoke

When DTV goes streaming only the In-Home Experts will be the ones delivering the 5G enabled tv boxes to the customers homes to set them up and upsell them on services.

Believe it or not In-Home is the fastest growing division in the company. Obviously there are some bad eggs doing dumb things but the majority are pretty good.

If you want to talk about overhead look at a corporate store.

Employees

Salary

Insurance

Inventory

The building

Maintenance

Merchandising

IT

Cleaning

Security (in some areas)

Stores are multi million dollar operations that less and less people are going to. 20% less traffic in 2018 if I remember correctly.

So with in-home a car, maintenance, salary, commission, inventory and fuel is far less money than these store cost them.

And ontop of that. These teams are putting up crazy numbers that are putting entire districts to shame.

Most of the “experts” d--k around most of the day anyway. They chose the most irresponsible people for this job and gave them vehicles with zero supervision.
