Fiberisasinkingship You are aware that multiple venues are at risk of losing the contract when it comes time to renew, right? Not upgrading the EOL DAS and the sub par ASU project has nothing to do with Enterprise. Neither does using Service Now to fluff numbers.

Fiberisasinkingship They combined it when they realized that Enterprise techs could do your work as well as theirs. You guys are all the same. Prima Donnas who think they are valuable. If you guys could do your work and Enterprise you'd be doing it but that's not the case.
what the He-l you think Techs did Before CC acquired all that fiber/dead weight. They fixed it themselves they did it then and will continue to when Crown sells off the sinking ship that is Fiber. they were doing just fine before you got here and will be doing even better when you leave!! Facts are facts..just look at the numbers. And like the other guy said there’s a reason they combined.SCN/das and fiber and it’s not because Fiber was doing so well..
@2bfc+1txBpVHQ Anyone who says that they use iOLM and thinks it's actually a decent tool, is a fool! No one with real OSP experience uses that cr-ppy function. If you think you have been carrying Enterprise, you're a bigger tool than the fool who uses iOLM. There's a reason why Enterprise techs are being tasked to assist with SCN / DAS ....who's carrying who.
Fiber gear sells quicker on eBay if the seal isn’t broken…hold off opening the box as long as you can as your best bet is another RIF is coming….who knows maybe sooner than that next ticket opens up :)
@2rzo+1txBpVHQ Good thing the "safety coordinator" is asleep at that time or else you'd be up excr-ment creek without a paddle.
@2bfc+1txBpVHQ Funny how you claim to be a "REAL TECH" yet have plenty of time to try to defend yourself here. Looks like more heads are gonna roll...
@2osx+1txBpVHQ Yes I use my Fujikira 90s+ quite often..and while IOLM function is a decent tool I use the OTDR function more. Mine shoots over Live fiber..Yes I am a REAL TECH not some je----f who just resets sh-t and hopes it goes away..
@2rzo+1txBpVHQ That's hilarious! You "repair" fiber?! The Tower/SCN/DAS "techs" were all sent to "training" to use OTDRs and were given new fusion splicers. Let's just say the OTDRs and fusion splicers are still out the of wrapper new and have that new electronics smell as well.
@2rzo+1txBpVHQ Fiber repair? You're telling me you break out your fusion splicer and splice on a new pigtail or connector at the patch panel...doubt that. Anyone can run a new LC fiber jumper and say they "repaired" a fiber break. Guess you even claim using iOLM on the OTDR makes you an OSP expert.
Says the person who was replaced by an Enterprise tech...that market has proven that Enterprise can pivot to SCN / DAS and not the other way around.
2 CC techs on 1 site YOU MUST BE JOKING not sure what world or market you live in. We do everything by ourselves, lane closures no spotters when we’re in the bucket. Hardware replacement, fiber repair, yes I said Fiber repair some of us fix it on our own and don’t refer it to CCF every time the wind blows.. As for enterprise well.. i’ll say what everyone else is afraid to. SCN/DAS have been carrying your weight since acquired.. there’s a reason they combined fiber and SCNand it wasn’t because enterprise was doing so well.. no Sabre here just TRUTH.. and if it hurts so be it
@2smz+1txBpVHQ Looks that way. Or else be turned into LedCorp. That's why if you have the opportunity to not just call yourself a SCN/DAS tech, learn other technologies to not be dependent on companies like this, who start making decisions that impact your livelihood.
Are all techs being outsourced?
Last time I checked, if a loc is labeled a red zone, no one dispatches at night and during the day, should be 2 techs or GC assist. You done sabre rattling?
That may be the case in your area, not in all areas. There is a market where the "techs" were entirely decimated and Enterprise team absorbed the additional duties. They switch from Enterprise outages to SCN/DAS issues on a dime. CAN YOU DO THAT??
@Anonymous Referring at ticket to RF??? WHAT A JOKE RF guys either REfUSE to use S/N or just act stupid like they don’t know how. Yes they might have signal generators, We do too.. only difference is RF ones are stuffed in a closet somewhere with 5 inches of dust on them and batteries that are smoked. The fact is DAS/SCN Techs keep the networks that generate our company’s MRC up and running, Without US none of you would have Jobs!!! I’d love to see you get out of your cubicle jump in a bucket at 3am by yourself in the ghetto, 30 feet in the air changing out a small cell unit. you’d probably shidoodle in your pants. We do this day in day out morning, noon night, rain, snow, etc….
@2ezg+1txBpVHQ Last time I checked, the vendor who installs the DAS, commissions and optimizes the system. SCN/ DAS techs mainly swap parts. Yes, you guys look at host or remote forward gains to trouble shoot etc. If the system needs to be reoptimized, RF engineering does it or you get a vendor to do it. That's why RF engineers have signal generators, loads etc. I have yet to see a SCN/ DAS tech do any of that. Thats why there is an RF Engineer referral on Service Now for tickets.
@2gid+1txBpVHQ please enlighten those who don't know how RF Engineers optimize and commission a DAS, and then what can go wrong if you do those things improperly. By your comments I already know you don't have a clue since you think RF just logs into controllers. If you're in a leadership position and think what you think, you're exactly what's wrong with this company.
@1yur+1txBpVHQ Don’t sabre rattle. I know what you guys do and don’t do, as well as what the Enterprise techs do.
If you think that’s all a SCN/DAS technician does YOU are part of the problem..
Wont be layoffs till at least Dec. enjoy the next two quarters.
Layedoffpissedoff Maybe you should have shown interest in learning Enterprise as well. RF engineering makes any changes to levels of needed. Anyone can learn to login and reset LPA, reboot etc through the controller. The NOC should be able to do that instead of just being admins. Biggest mistake by RF group was thinking they could do what Enterprise could do. Hence what you have in So Cal.
Crown made the Mistake of THINKING they had too many SCN/DAS Technicians..Contrary to popular belief contractors. Cannot do the work that SCN/DAS tech can. They also don’t have the VPN access Needed to troubleshoot the networks properly. Getting rid of all those technicians was a huge mistake.. Was there some dead weight.. yes but you now have 4 technicians in the entire socal market doing the Job of 10 and at 10 we were spread thin as it was…
Not rumors...the directive has been implemented for heavy GC usage on the SCN/DAS OPS. CC has come to the realization that they didn't need as many RF techs as they had. Enterprise is a little different due to NetSec issues. Not as simple as replacing parts on SCN/DAS equipment. That's the problem when non-technical "People Leaders" try to make the wheel more round and claim they made it spin faster.
also have heard rumors saying CC is going to try to get vendors/subs to run the show
you telling me any of these subs are going to do the backend of projects plus the labor you are out of your gd mind
rumor has it august and november (crown loves RIFs right before xmas)
Any chance we're done for the year?
