Thread regarding Sears layoffs

16 non closing Kmarts

There are now 16 non-closing Kmarts. White Plains is closing, and it is very close to a Target, so that's not a big surprise. Looking at mapquest (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but the only remaining Kmart that appears to be close to a Target seems to be Miami, which is about 1 mile from one. So maybe that will go soon? Who Knows? Another oddity is that Hato Rey PR Kmart is literally in the same parking lot as Sears. So look to them maybe combining operations into 1 store, in the future. Just speculation though.

We are now at 16 Kmarts total, 10 of which are in the US. I have changed my map to reflect this as well:

Statistics: Kmart absent in 44 states. Now we have 3 states, CA, MI, MT, with only 1 each. There are 10 Kmarts in United "States", total. Of those in the US, 3, marked with letter "P", have pharmacies as well as 4 more pharmacies in the territories, also marked with letter "P".
Additionally, Puerto Rico has 1 Kmart, USVI has 4, Guam has 1, so 6 total stores outside of the US. Total of 16 total Kmarts left as of now that are not closed or closing.

I use mapquest and I will continue to, whether you like it or not. I also use paper road maps, and atlases. My choice. And nobody will be adding anything here. Further trolling will just be ignored, and I will not dignify it. Move on.

The Brooklyn KMart has not been confirmed as closed, only Sears has. You must add it back to the list.

On another note, who still uses MapQuest? What year are you in? 2001?

Those 2 Bronx stores, are about 4 miles apart LMAO! Those 2 stores have to be basically taking business from each other. They should just pick the more Profitable 1 and close the other. NYC has high Min. Wage laws, so what is it Costing them to keep 2 stores open, that are practically walkable to each other? Especially 1 of them, has a pharmacy, and most pharmacists make over $40 per Hour.

Nope, not at all (to the poster asking below). If Hato Rey Sears closes, and Hato Rey Kmart remains, with a few Sears-specific items being sold in 1 tiny corner of that store, it would be Hato Rey Kmart, with a tiny Sears "department". Conversely, if Hato Rey Kmart closes, yet the Sears remains (with a few Kmart-specific items in 1 corner of the store), it would be Hato Rey Sears, with a tiny Kmart "department".

Just like it was Brooklyn Sears, with a Kmart "department" that just took up less than 5% of the square footage of Brooklyn Sears. It was but one of many different departments of Brooklyn Sears, and was smaller than my living room. Same concept would apply to PR if they went that route.

So if Hato Rey combines into 1 store, are you gonna behave like with the now-closing Brooklyn and say “that’s not a Sears or that’s not a KMart”?

That’s a slap in the face to every single one of us that saw Brooklyn as a Sears and a KMart, but were marginalized and bullied for saying so.

Still amazes me that the far-flung ,"1 store per state" locations, in CA, MI, and MT still remain. California, a state with almost 40 million people, has the same amount of Kmarts as Montana, a state with 1 million people, and they both have more Kmarts than Texas, a state with almost 30 million people which has zero Kmarts. Go freaking figure.
