Despise, no.
Respect, absolutely not.
Four classes of management at Ford
-
politicking machines with a non-functioning moral compass. These will do anything to climb upwards, they leave a trail of destruction in their wake. They use and abuse everyone.
-
good ole boy club and friends and family club. These are typically clueless bungling managers who jump to a new position before their bungling bears fruit.
-
placeholders - these are keeping a seat warm while good ole boys club maneuvers behind the scenes to place a more desirable person (one who will do their bidding) into place.
-
competent manager. Rare birds who will be targeted for removal by their peers.
While the politicking machines are plentiful, occasionally we get to enjoy their fall.
One fall we joyously celebrated on Friday. This destructive force spent decades ruining reputations of others. He serially targeted the most competent persons and blamed them for everything that went bump in the night. He sabotaged their work and then publicly stepped in to save the day, by fixing the targets “mistakes”. It all caught up with him after the SRD when all the competent people were SRDed (who he coincidentally was both blaming for all his failings and taking credit for their work). Senior leadership was surprised that he couldn’t complete any projects after the SRD, as all the people he claimed were causing project delays and failures were gone. He was exposed as a con-artist. He was told it was in his best interest to take SRD.
Sadly it took close to 30 years for this con-artist to be exposed, despite a 30 yr trail of complaints to HR and management. Sadly he is only one of many bad actors.
