Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Promotions

They just published the vp and above promotions on circuit. What a list. One final gift from Bob swan. Horrible. It was particularly disappointing to see the clowns from the dcg cloud solutions team got promoted. For what? Certainly not for competence and work product.

Intel is a joke, maybe the same thing is happening in every company. No wonder regular folks in small towns believe in things like qanon. I saw a oil truck carrying two tanks. I guess someone at the top who makes 100 million a year decided that it saves the company money to have one driver carrying two tanks. Truck Drivers already make very little money, no health care, no benefits. But let’s squeeze him. Next thing, how about no drivers, driverless. What a crazy time we live in. Same thing for us. US to low cost geos. Reduce # of engineers, reduce benefits. And pay top compensation to ceo, cfo who failed at their jobs and let the, promote their a– kissers...

Most of what we see defy logic, common sense, anything. The tech industry is a house of sh–.

Easy money is driving speculation even in highly speculative things like bit coin, etherium etc. that is driving GPU sales, that is driving the already high stock prices in nvidia, amd etc. 5G is another bubble. Stock market is not investment grade anymore. Salesforce.com is now a Dow Jones industrial company. Tesla in S&P 500. Look at the promotions year after year, the leaders running this company. I am sure it is no different than other companies. Sh– has floated to the top. I am not hopeful.

This is just dysfunctional people at the top finding ways to reward each other.

How many engineers to layoff in order to afford the extra exec pay?

What a depressing list. Is there a separate list showing the Americans who have been promoted?

@1xqh+19dnnnS1, I wouldn’t say being dared to leave because everybody has the option to leave without reaching that stage. But the level of dysfunctionality even moderately capable people like me find here is astounding.

It will be class warfare soon!! robinhood. Fight! Take from the rich! We need to unite and fight this BS. Soon, no one wants to be lowly paid engineer who does all the grunt work! We can’t go back to the 80’s (explosion of middle class wealth). It’s shaming time in the 2020’s, 90% of us and moving to third world. Utter dystopia!

@1fbr+19dnnnS1, how about the other way around? Tell us who deserves to get promoted and I can confirm, since by default most promoted people don’t deserve to

I know a staggering number of talented people who are single point and fail, and never get promoted. Its like they are being dared to leave, go ahead find something better. I get it in some cases the people are dead weight, but more often than not those people leave and set off a bomb that 5 new hires cannot fix or contain.
