Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Lots of Trolls Here

There seems to be a lot of trolls on here trying to muddy the waters around what is really going on at BP and BPX. Especially, our L48 division.

To be clear, this place is toxic. Career progression is limited. There is tons of favoritism. Many leaders talk about and trash their employees behind their backs. These issues have made their way to the upper echelons of BP. They know who the bad actors are. I'm an HR rep who has had to sit and listen to multiple complaints coming out of the Permian, Eagleford, Reserves Team. And IT sectors. Its bad! If you heard the conversations I've been privy to you'd be pretty angry.

I cannot wait for there to be a culling of the heard. I've seen these arrogant leaders refer to good people as gelatinous, deadwood, jealous, etc.

This couldn't be further from reality. When will you start listening to these people? Your arrogance only makes the company suffer.

Can you say who was calling people Gelatinous? Pretty uncommon linguistic choice also used in one of the reply comments here recently. Probably the same person that has been Trolling every post here.. hmm

No, it is mainly at the middle manager level and above in the Permian, Reserves Team, Eagleford, and Subsurface. Its kind of been a known thing for a while. Anyone who has been here for at least 6 months or more knows about it.

KK had connections over at Westlake and she made a strategic move when the other KK moved up into DL's spot. Several other good leaders just left for greener pastures. I'll be no different here shortly.

Several of the top leaders here are also known to be a part of this behavior. Its been an issue for a while but it really ramped up starting in 2017-2018 and its reached a critical mass where people are leaving in droves now. I've been here a while and I've never seen so many engineers and geologists leave or move around like this. I receive calls all the time from my friends at other companies asking me why so many BPX'ers are applying there. Its embarrassing. They can't tell me who these applicants are but I walk around knowing many people in certain teams are looking to make a move.

The leaders ad mid level and above have developed a very arrogant attitude and refuse to see the writing on the walls. Its hard to see the true picture when your head is in the clouds. I know of people who have told them how it was and they refuse to listen. They benefit from their positions and connections so they could care less about the toxicity created by them and their cronies.

They chalk all of this up to business as usual as this is normal in our industry but I have a pretty good pulse on the industry, and we are outliers.

I'm not throwing names because I'd be no better but its coming out of the Permian, Reserves, Eagleford cliques at the highest level down to the mid management level. This is why MA has considered a serious overhaul. Its a well known issue now.

Issues have been reported by many. Including top leaders who are walking out left and right.

My advice? Find a good exit strategy and leave peacefully when your timing is right. As an HR rep coming from healthier companies I do believe I've made a grave error coming here. Soo many lawsuits possible if people knew what I knew.

It's disgusting

Was KK one of the ones who was trash talking employees?

BP is still being BP though and protecting their favorites. Example: the creation of a job for KK in order to get her moved out of BPX and back to BP.
