Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Toxic He-l, My Soul is Dead

I realize this is a layoff page, and to those whose lives have been negatively impacted by layoffs so far, I am truly sorry.

With that said, working at Dell has become unbearable. I dread work to the point of tears every Sunday, almost every night, and have crippling depression all day on work days. Dell continues to make life harder and harder for its people, while forcing us to smile and gaslight us about how awesome of a company it is to work for. Unrealistic sales quotas, being asked to do 10 people's jobs, bad initiatives that make no sense, the list goes on and on. And with those unreasonable quotas in place to sc--w Sales out of pay, come the constant and crippling fear of job loss due to bad attainment, even though you know you are doing everything you can. Just a sad circumstance I am tired of being in and I know I am not alone.

You are nothing but an expense to be cut.

Totally agree with this post, not easy working for a company that doesn't seem to have long term plans. Everything is driven by two or maybe three quarters then its a new initiative. Cloud, no hybrid cloud, no APEX, wait no its all about AI. Never out front anymore just following the latest trends. It's easy to predict Dell will be in the top 5 of best companies to work for, who do they pay off for that honor.

"Why don't you TELL DELL about this??"

Tell Dell results are obviously meaningless at this point. Some groups have stopped receiving their results altogether. Why take the survey is there's no meaningful action and management doesn't share the results?

a culture that is being created to dehumanize its workers.

As MD said - The Cost of Cognitive Power Goes To Zero!! The plan is most of the sales at Dell to be done by AI agents!

@1yuo+1pMIfDxT - you sound like the Dell "leaders" that dismiss concerns or refute data that doesn't fit their expectations. What OP is taking about is real. Many employees are feeling this way. Even long term folks are expressing that morale is low. If you want to deny that, it's on you. But don't downplay what many are feeling or try to make it seem that these are fringe experiences...

This is pretty much the way leadership wants it at Dell now. The feelings of anxiety, stress and fear are purposely manufactured to create natural attriction. The more people that leave or quit on thier own, the less payouts they have to make. If you don't think this is intentional or don't believe me, take a good hard look at your 3rd, 4th and 5th line leader. As a people leader, I was privy to these meetings and I can tell you without a doubt, the strategy moving forward was do more with less, save on OpEx, and reduce headcount. This is the core framework for sales moving forward over the next 2-3 years. You will see continued pressure to achieve goals that are not attainable along with a culture that is being created to dehumanize its workers. This is the roadmap and goals of your leadership, they want to devalue people so they walk out the door.

@1xfs+1pMIfDxT Bit of a di-k comment IMO.
Like everyone else in Dell at the moment this person is suffering mental pressure and major stress that management has passed down and to which no amount of free Pizza or Vouchers will fix.
Move on is not as straight forward when you have responsibilities.
Complete BS comment.
Maybe management should take note of how people really feel on tgis forum instead of the complete farce that is Tell Dell.

Look, I get it, I feel similarly stressed and that Dell has really gone down hill as a place to work. I’m looking externally. But coming on here and dumping all this on a layoff forum isn’t going to help you or anyone else. This is melodramatic - just get another job.

I feel this. I used to enjoy working for Dell but after 2019 it’s become empty and soul su-king. Management stopped even pretending to care and fun is no longer allowed. Everyone I know is miserable and I’m stressed to tears almost daily.

This is the exact same way I feel at Dell.
I feel anxiety and depression every single day from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon when I clock off.
So much so it has taken a massive toll on my mental health and personal life.
Every day is more endless tick box KPI's and pressure from the top rolled down to staff.
I pray a layoff list is coming in early Q1 and my name is at the very top.The attitude from management is if you dont like it leave but it's just not that simple.

You need to leave.
No job is worth that much stress.
Spend some time and look at your savings and see if you can leave and live off your savings. Even if you have to downsize your home, cars, toys, etc, it’s worth it.
