Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Nothing is ever done here for the sake of the employees

Those who think that BofA will ever hear the voice of employees, that they will pay attention to our wishes and complaints - I think live in illusion.

I don’t remember ever anything being done primarily for the benefit of employees?

We are all replaceable to them and I do not believe that anything will ever change there.

The problem is that long-term employees who leave are not replaceable. You cannot replace long-term institutional knowledge overnight. What you can gain in hiring a lower paying employee, you lose in operational efficiency, know-how, decision-making skills, etc. Something as simple as navigating the various software platforms can take years to learn the various intricacies, efficiencies, etc.

"This is not unique to BofA. It's a systemic problem across all of corporate America and decisions are all beholden to shareholders and profits. Any altruistic acts are all for optics, reputation building, and rankings on charts."

Name a time or company that hasn't looked at employees as "replaceable". It's always been the case. To those that think BAC should do anything "primarily for the benefit of employees", trust me, they have. Your work environment today is far superior to what has happened in the past.

Gone are the days of a pension or retirement that would give you a living wage post retirement. Even the largest of past employers like GM, US Steel, Ford eventually went through difficult financial times, declared bankruptcy, and cleared the books. First thing to go, your pension that was "promised" to you.

This isn't the days of old. You're a resource for the bank, in turn treat them also as a resource. No loyalty travels both ways.

All just numbers that's all. Come to terms with it and treat your job that way. When the next one comes knocking...go for it.

Employees are just human resources that can be replaced after their usefulness has run its course.
