Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

The ONLY thing that Citi HR moves fast on is laying people off. It’s almost as if they look forward to it.

If you reach out to them for anything else at all, they act as if they’ve been so begrudgingly inconvenienced.Others have pretty much already echo’d the very strong across the board sentiment that HR at Citi is quite useless. HR at Citi does what we call “rest and vests”. They show up for work and do nothing but collect the pay.

If you are expecting them to move things along at a reasonable pace, then you will always be disappointed. I can understand why others suggest to layoff HR, or replace them with AI or even outsource them cheaper. I get it, I really do. What true value do they serve if all they do is not respond, not answer questions and drag their feet on processes. I mean if you truly want to trim the fat, start there.

Probably because you aren't going to the correct team or person. Or you are asking stupid questions you can find out on your own.

I have been at Citi for 7.5 years and have never had to contact HR once because I can find everything on my own.

In the past the HR attitude when it came to layoffs was “su-ks to be you”. Now that AI will be edging them out, the shoe is on the other foot.

After weeks of trying to get my human HR rep to help me with a question they just told me to submit a ticket.... literally why do they exist? They are neither Human nor Resource. I'm better off with the lackluster AI Citi keeps pushing at this point.

They can stories not bullet points, but the point is what is the outcome of story. There is no measurement. Same year end, mid year discussions, every one is good but why final product of Citi is bad. People who cannot work at ground leave they only have option to create politics, confusion.

Heard from a source in HR that’s a pretty good idea if you ask me.

Jane is preparing a directive that will ask ALL employees to send an email to HR detailing in 10 bullet points things they accomplished over the last week. No mentions of email or zoom calls allowed. Failure to respond will result in being put on a PIP.

I can think of 20 off the top of my head.

Thoughts?

Simplification is in words, Complexity in action. You know why, here every one want to just lead and pass orders no one want to work. Every one will be busy in meeting with zero out come. Do planning and budgeting for months and throw in trash. Her people think smart if they steal ideas and they feel intelligent if they were able to make someone fool. This is not right place for growth.

Yup, had to look my HR rep up in Workday, I'm a Director level and have never been introduced, no meetings ever, been here 2 years. Apparently HR is only for MD level. Emailed the lady, one week later still no response. I email again, she asks for the information that I have already sent. Says she'll work on it... another week has gone by. Citi talk about Simplification... how about just ask everyone to do the basics of their jobs? Same thing working with people trying to get tech approved, MONTHS of back and forth and emailing people reminding them to do THEIR jobs.

What’s funny to me is I’ve read all the post about anti-AI etc… such stuff as “good luck on reasoning with AI” or “good luck on correcting something if its wrong” etc… and such.

Well, that’s exactly the experience when dealing with Citi HUMAN HR.
“Good luck on hearing back from HR.” “Good luck on reasoning with HR”. etc…

So, yeah, what do you have to lose by flipping the switch from human to AI when it comes to HR. The worse scenario is that you get exactly what you get right now. No responses, no direction, nothing corrected. So, why not and save some money.
