Genuinely would appreciate debate and discussion about best options for LAPC. Thx.

Why not? I’m planning on leaving as soon as things pick back up in the industry. I never understood why GOM was completely excluded. If they want to cut headcount there are plenty of people twiddling their thumbs. Sure some people have key skills and expertise but plenty of us are easily replaceable.
Anyone requesting resignation who is on the not eligible list? Does it hurt to try? What is there to lose?
24 months. Heck even just paying full 36 like the CoC would still be cheaper. Two months of medical vs six months in the CoC. They're not paying pro-rated PTO for next year or the highest bonus for the past three years with this voluntary offer. LAPC shouldn't ask for anything less than 24months I think.
COC adjusted for voluntary severance terms would be around 37.5 months for me. Thinking 36 would still be beneficial to Oxy since payout would be monthly instead of lump sum.
I put in for 24 months. At this point, I just want out of this oxy nightmare!!!
2 year LAPC employee. Just requested 30 months. At the end of the day, this is a voluntary solicitation, so if they want me to be unemployed given all that's happening right now, they better make it worth my while and I may as well shoot for the stars.
Thanks for the thoughtful responses (with a couple exceptions) so far. Seeing thought processes is helpful.
: @tjq+14WTruLV because Oxy has been such a solid example of leadership to follow so far? Following Oxy means running in circles chasing incompetence. I think I’ll pass on both suggestions.
"Should have taken it when I had the chance," - Wow! You're a unicorn. Dumb enough not to take it when you had a chance and stupid enough to admit it "publicly."
"My fear, however, is they’re only entertaining the dummies" - Don't worry you fit that description.
36 Months. 2.5 years of 70% salary, ie COC layoff protection + my Oxy pound of flesh.
24 months is my minimum to volunteer and give up COC and other benefits. I think any less is crazy, I’d rather be ran off in 2 months with nothing else but my dignity.
Curious to see what others are thinking as well.
I trust that Oxy will find ever more creative ways of reducing any possibility of seeing full CoC. Should have taken it when I had the chance, but circumstances felt different back then. If I look at the horizon now I see an ever growing workload and an ever shrinking paycheck if I stay here. I’m tapping my network and if anything looks promising I’m jumping ship. There is work out there, despite what you hear.
This silent auction for severance is pretty demoralizing. I’ll probably request a year knowing the CoC is worth far, far more...but maybe it’s best to cut your losses? 30% pay cut in August and who knows what after that...furlough, some crazy assignment? I’d rather have a modicum of control of my destiny rather than hang on to the idea of a CoC payout or hoping things will get better. My fear, however, is they’re only entertaining the dummies that request 4-6 months.
STHU and do as OXY says perhaps!
