@2jbf+1ued7HEg management is a pretty broad term that can be used to describe anyone who supervises others. i understand and agree that there are some good low level managers but middle management and leadership is unbelievably bloated
I have been with 2U for over 10 years as an a/c and I have had some really hardworking managers and some that have been useless. I feel that the majority of A/Cs care deeply about their students and are very conscientious about their duties. This is all a moot point right now because we are laying off people left and right and not back filling. Meaning more and more that the A/C needs to do. I truely think that admissions will get hit with the next round of layoffs.
I call BS on strictly blaming manager. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty at every leadership level that are worthless. But, being here since near the beginning I have seen first hand managers try and fire worthless ACs to only get pushback and eventually not moved forward with firing.
THIS is why this company is a shithole. There has been very minimal repercussions for bad behavior and absolutely ZERO incentive for the top dawgs.
AND…. does not look like either of these are going to change..

managers are responsible for hiring workers, training talent, and getting rid of dead weight. if that isn't happening, then managers aren't doing their jobs.
managers make a ton of money at 2U for doing almost no work. at least a worthless, lying, falsifying AC is cheap.
They conveniently timed a recent layoff round just before retention bonuses were coming (happening again in September)

That isn't true. The last layoff had more than 50 people impacted.

2U will collapse; it's just a matter time.
While this is scary, please know that there is life after 2U.
Like many of you, I was impacted by a layoff.
Was it shocking?
Sure.
Was I scared about the job market?
Sure.
But, the job market is not as bad as people will make you believe.
If you find yourself impacted by a layoff, lean on your network; don't be afraid to ask for support with your next step.
Remember, closed mouths do not get fed.
When I made the decision to ask for support, I was referred for a director role and landed the role. The result was a promotion in pay and title.
So, the moral of the story for anyone impacted by a layoff is to keep the faith and know that something better may be waiting for you.
It happened for me. And, I know it can happen for you, too!

WARN Act is all we need to know… law states they Must give warning when laying off 50 or more.
Leadership NEVER tells us how many were laid off which makes me believe all
These layoffs are under 50 so they can do them as often as they have.
With this said, I see another round coming Q4 before the holiday slowdown begins
The last round of layoffs was “unrelated to bankruptcy”. Laughable and almost certainly dishonest, but impossible to prove.
New owners will want to cut costs and since there technically haven’t been any layoffs related to the bankruptcy, there will be at least one more round. Maybe more.
This isn’t getting better until Paul is fired (likely), unless we unionize (doable but unlikely)

Absolutely agree with the poster that stated that this board is unfortunately where we turn to get internal info. There is no communication from leadership, if you can even call them that! So yes, we will continue to post on this board, ask the same question, and usually someone is kind enough to give up a heads up. And please don’t tell me that if I don’t like it here go get another job! That is not as easy as it sounds. Leadership should be communicating with us every single month at the least. But even when they do, it’s the same old script that was sent out in the press release earlier in the day.

Step 1, we care about transparency and communication and it’s going to be very different moving forward
Step 2, we are working on this Important Thing that takes up all of our time, sorry if we can’t talk much right now
Step 3, Important Thing never materializes
Step 4, layoffs, lame apology/excuse, more bonuses for executives
Step 5, rinse and repeat in the next quarter
It could change without Paul resigning but I don’t see why it would. This is the whole ballgame
Paul wont be fired. Dealing with the BK is an enormous amount of work being done in a short period of time. Once thats complete in Sept look for more direction going forward.
