Anyone have any idea what that's about? Maybe they're addressing the current situation? Never seen an All Optum meeting, just Town Halls.

@1vg are you on dr-g. Did you even attend the meeting
yep as suspected in the town hall, RTO being mandated. Thank you for the great intel.
@1fd
Read the meeting invite please…it has the agenda in there as the previous poster said
This meeting is not mandatory so likely just a meeting to motivate the Team. However, if someone truly knows more, now is the time to speak up! Please.
Have any of u id--ts commenting here opened the invite to see the agenda?
It says it’s about focusing on the customer.
Go open the invite and read the agenda you paranoid fools
RTO sure... they closed our office in 2017 and by the click of a mouse we were all telecommuters not by our choice. More than half the people i work with are 11 time zones away all the rest are in 5 other time zones. When i was in an office i drive 50 miles one way to sit in a cube and do conference calls all day to other time zones and no one in my physical location was on the calls.
@14e He-l, more than half of my team doesn't even live in the same country. Claiming they'd be doing it to improve collaboration would still put most folks in a Teams meeting. Their internet connections aren't reliable enough to get decent audio, making video impossible (which is a-ok for this introvert).
They called our last UHC meeting and All UHC meeting not town hall and it was nothing special just the usual. RTO did get brought up and while the guy (cant remember who) said he thinks working in the office leads to collaboration and innovation he didn't commit to it. Realistically I don't think it would work. When I worked on the Optum side none of my team lived in the same state even. We were spread out in 3 time zones and 7 states.
I hear they are closing or consolidating offices in a lot of cities. I don’t think it’s RTO.
I heard this meeting was a fluff meeting. Nurse practitioners do not have their schedules blocked so it can’t be that important.
@vz is it specific to just those in the MN office or all locations?
Post ID: @OP+1jwh03th3- does that pertain to current hybrid workers as well?
It’s RTO, our VP just gave us the heads up but it only applies to people who are within 20 to 25 miles of the MN office
@a2 RTO=return to office
How much advance notice required before layoffs?
I deal with the employee accounts and it use to be quite busy but now it’s a bare trickle. Really what troops. Most of the troops are gone. The team is actually being coerced into quitting due to lack of work.
Could this be why several job postings for UHG/UHC/Optum say you have to reside in certain states in order to apply for certain positions and they list the states.
Global work force reduction upto 20%
I think most people don’t realize there are not a lot of US employees left. Because we are all siloed you think there is but all these layoffs and outsourcing has taken its toll.
Re: RTO, I’m not seeing it. This is going to be about ‘one Optum’, unity through adversity etc. Making a RTO announcement is about the most divisive thing they could do. Plus we’re saving way too much money on physical overhead. Not happening.
Of course, like Dennis Miller would say, that’s just my opinion - I could be wrong.
@a1 i got the invite and i don’t even have an office…. my job is fully remote. there’s way too many people in the company to fit them in an office and it would cost more money creating offices
@dn because they don’t lay off like that
@a2 return to office
Agreed. It's an attempt to re-unify the troops. refocus, ignore the recent past,..refocus on the mission and stop reheating leftover fish in the break room microwave.....That sh1t stinks man.
Its just a rah rah session. Why have people return to an office when you just gonna offshore and lay them off. I recall Helmsley used to do these all the time in the past. Everyone I work with is remote or offshore. Just stirring the pot for giggles on here I bet
why did not anyone say that the meeting is about mass layoffs?
This thread makes me wonder how many people don't truly understand how much Steve doesn't fu-k around. The Witty gravy train is over. Either fall in line, or go find another job. It's as simple as that.
I'm thinking any RTO order would be for corporate employees only.
Helmsley banning AI till such time Mainframe processes 70% of Claims. Candyman is applying in LinkedIn, all available jobs, any pay grade.
Been WFH for over 12 years during all acquisitions. You aint getting me in no office where they steal your lunch from the fridge and hide my stapler.
Just a good solid team meeting with new leaders. And 40% off the old swag.
There’s is no office within 150 miles of me so
It’s going to be a rah rah, rally the troops session. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
@b1 If it is RTO, I wonder what depts will be impacted. To me it seems nearly impossible to make every segment of Optum rto
Well something going on. If it is RTO, Hemsley is old school and part of the work from home contract that everyone is suppose to sign states it is a perk. If you are not meeting your outrageously high metrics well you are suppose to return to the office. And you are supposed to live within so many minutes from an office. On the other hand maybe they gonna sale some of this company to get the heat off of them. Plus the JD claiming they did an investigation of allegations of paying nursing homes and they did not find anything does not mean anything other than they are choosing not to pursue . That does not mean anything. They could choose to pursue later or they traded something .
I seriously doubt the meeting has anything to do with RTO. If UHG does anything well, it's WFH. It's the first big meeting since Hemsley took back the reins, so he has a lot to say for sure. Also, the invite is all about consumer priorities, blah, blah blah, and RTO won't accomplish anything for anyone. Why add to the company's problems by throwing another wrench into a failing engine?
I seriously doubt it’s about returning to the office. I live in Texas and there is no office to return to-I work with patients telephonically in another state.
As Nice Guy Eddie said, “We got places all over the place.”
My guess is we’d do this to try and get people to quit. Off shoring has exploded over the last few years and they just did that buyout over at UHC so maybe there is enough space.
Good intel? RTO? Too many employees to be a nationwide situation. Some don't have offices near them, or if they do, the satellite offices are too small.
I'm a telecommuter, would I still be RTO? I don't even have an office to go to?
@ab do you think they are going to do this for all depts? Some have never had an office presence or even the current space for it
