Oh sweet Cengage, How did it all go so terribly wrong for you?

@1vfx+1gzh4ddO So, so true. I worked maybe 2-3 hours per day and outperformed 90% of my colleagues (my reviews confirmed it). Cengage paid for most of my grad degree and I was able to do 90% of my coursework at work. Like many of my Cengage friends and colleagues, I left for a lot more money and opportunity. Things will never be as easy as they were at Cengage in the 2010s.

You're not joing about being in the top 10% if you have a pulse. The people that I see now promoted into senior leadership are the ones we used to laugh at. These were the people who had the worst ideas and spouted off with the most ridiculous things at meetings. They didn't understand the first thing about business or what their customers wanted. Now they're the ones ostensibly making product decisions.

If you want to be promoted at Cengage you just need to a) stay and b) nod your head at the right time. That's about it.

@1lat+1gzh4ddO. So true. Its kind of like college all over again. You can spend a few years figuring out what you want to do with your life. Go to graduate school, start a side business, travel...whatever.

But this time you get PAID and if you have a pulse you are automatically in the top 10% of the smartest people in the company.

Its not quite the gravy train it used to be, when you could work 3-4 months a year and make really good money, but there are way worse things to do.

The bar is set so low.

I'm going to keep riding this gravy train of free money for little work and co-worker hook ups until they pull the brakes. Its like going to college but not showing for classes and having fun all day.

I’ll bite. Getting taken to school by Richard Harrington and Thomson by buying a tired, bloated textbook publisher in 2007. Cengage was buried before it was birthed.
