Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Rebadge Incoming (stealing your severance)

I recently participated in a high-level meeting where it was communicated that Global intends to transition remaining employees to the vendor InfoSys through a “rebadging” process rather than conducting direct layoffs with severance packages.

During the discussion, concerns were raised regarding whether employee tenure, PTO accruals, bonuses, and severance eligibility would be honored under this transition. When specifically asked about severance obligations tied to rebadging, Matt Tracy reportedly stated: “It won’t be our problem anymore because they won’t be Global employees.”

While compensation may be presented as remaining “the same,” the loss of accrued PTO, annual bonuses, tenure recognition, and severance protections represents a substantial reduction in overall employee value and security. Many employees are concerned that this transition is structured to shift operational knowledge to InfoSys while reducing Global’s long-term financial obligations to existing staff.

Based on what was communicated, there appears to be a broader plan to transition significant portions of Operations to InfoSys over the next year.

For employees who have remained through repeated restructurings, increased workloads, uncertainty, and sustained organizational stress, this feels deeply unfair and dismissive of the loyalty and contributions that have kept these teams functioning.

Employees are not asking for special treatment. The expectation is simply fair treatment and reasonable protections during any transition process, including:

  • Recognition of tenure
  • PTO carryover or compensation
  • Preservation of benefits where possible
  • Fair severance protections
  • Transparency regarding long-term employment expectations

Without the current teams, there is no operational continuity or transfer of institutional knowledge. Employees should not be expected to facilitate a transition that materially disadvantages them without meaningful protections in place.

This is not a call for insubordination. It is a request that employees be treated fairly, transparently, and with respect for the years of work and dedication they have given to the company.

@20m the focus is majority Global, but with reorgs coming up in July there will begin to be integration of GP and WP team members so it would be expected that WP team members could be included.

@1zc So this is only for hGP and hGP subsidiary employees? Not anyone coming from hWP or hPayrix etc.

@1v2 Expect rebadging to start in July with some teams in the US being the initial wave/guinea pigs. From there, all bets are off with more teams and many locations being considered.

@1w6 "heritage". Some of the new lingo they decided to invent recently. I guess someone disliked "legacy"

So is this saying all hGP India employees are being reassigned to InfoSys, all hGP USA employees, all hGP employees period or all hGP AND hWP employees?

They have already let go of so many people that everyone is left with huge messes to clean up and no more experts. Global pays at minimum 20% less than their competitors but used the place to be until they became super greedy like the rest of corporate America and quit caring about the people that actually help them to make all that money then pay them pennies. No bonuses, no Christmas parties, no cups 8n the kitchen. No daycare, no fitness specialist. Bare Bones for maximum profit.

@w0
It's across all orgs. If your job can be done cheaper in India then it will be.

@vn the start is most definitely in operations, but it will most likely spread. If youre in operations, it is safe to be worried. Sounds like a lot of movement this year.

@vc is all teams being rebadged or certain lines of business?

@r0 the reorg is simply aligning teams and leaders across the newly formed Global/Worldpay org. There will be firings coming up at the end of June, but expect those to mostly be at the management level. The rebadging will be a separate effort and will be teams basically removed from Global and moved to Infosys. This is all just part of the McKinsey and Laurent Bossard cost savings plan being done by his senior leaders.

@rj I have gone through a couple of these in my career. A rebadge, requires termination from the current company and rehire with the new firm. What people do not realize is that you can negotiate with the new employer ( in this case Infosys-if true), you do not have to accept their initial terms.

I worked for another company that did this. Team members actually had to apply for the same job at the new company. Do you know if we'll have to apply for to have a job at InfoSys or if it will be an automatic move?

I've suspected that GP has been wanting to reduce their US footprint for some time now.

I have been involved with several meetings as well with Matt Tracy and let's just say that some McKinsey initiatives are not productling the net recurring benefit that McKinsey wants to see.

SO- what does this mean? Since the firm is not meeting the goals set forth by McKinsey and our inititiaves, they must make the loss somewhere since it's already included in our forecast. DJ is right. We are entering a very difficult period.

The firm will migrate most US employees to the BPO (InfoSys). We are already in progress to move a lot of roles to another BPO that WorldPay used.

@a8 it’s not GP lingo, Infosys is the name of another company.

“ Infosys is a global leader in AI-first business consulting and technology services, headquartered in Bengaluru, India.”

They’re going to try and offload operations employees to another company so that they don’t have to pay our severances, and if THAT company lays us off, we’re just sc--wed.

We should all start reporting this to media outlets to hopefully get GP in some heat so they reconsider fully sc--w over all their employees. The optics of this are EXTRAORDINARILY bad for the company.

If true, this sounds like a carbon copy of exactly what FIS is doing, only difference is they are offloading folks to Cognizant instead of Infosys.. once rebadged, the countdown starts.. better lawyer up. Good luck all.

The rebadge process was done with issuing as well after they were sold to fiserv. Take a look at the fiserv or tsys threads on here to get a picture of what happened.

Check your state laws. Many states require PTO payouts even under these conditions.Do not trust HR to know.

They have been pushing team members in the most recent all hands meetings to take their PTO and time off. I have never heard such a push for this from leaders. I have been with the company over 7 years now, and there’s never been mention of taking your PTO like this.

So, take your PTO NOW before you lose it to this transition.
