Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

2 more brothers ki---d.

Even as we die for this company, they do not care about us. We only have each other's backs and even then, many of our so called brothers throw us under the bus and snitch us out to management. RIP to the fallen and condolences to their families. One of them just hired on and the other less than a year from his 30th. Sad.

Well someone screwed up and the price of that sc--w up was someones life! If that crew was given permission to shove into an OOS track, then who in El Paso gave them the authority to do so? What are the details surrounding the two ki---d in California? I heard MoW equipment was on a siding that no one was aware of. If that's true, then HOW was no one aware of the standing equipment left in the siding? In either case, there was a huge communication breakdown that cost people there lives. Who's to blame in anyone's guess at this point. Was that crew tired? Was that crew forced to do something by local management? The management has everyone wound so tight and afraid of their own shadows that no one can do their jobs anymore. If the management wanted to fire me, they knew where I was. I didn't run from them, and I didn't play there f-ing games while I was there. I knew what my job was, and I did it. I left because it was getting too dangerous because of people breaking rules, people getting hurt and management ignoring it all. I don't know all of the details but I have to somehow believe management is involved with both accidents in some way. It's sad that this is what the UP is now. The Fritz and his team ARE going to own this!

@1uwr+1iDcsBjZ are you saying a dispatching mistake played a role in this accident? I ask bcuz I remember when the dispatchers territories were extended hearing the dispatchers complain and warn it was too much to keep track of. Also the fatality in el paso was not bcuz track forces just “left” a portable derail on the track. The track forces were STILL out in the dark working. The track was STILL out of service. The train was lined onto the OOS track and instructed to shove into the yard on that still OOS track. I’d like to know if returning the dispatchers territories to pre-PSR sizes help to eliminate these dispatching errors?
