Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Everyone is desperate to leave BC

Every day I hear how much VMW now BC employees are disgusted with the BC business practices and looks like everyone is miserable there. Looks like everyone is spending their WFH days interviewing and waiting for the right opportunity.

VMware has had its problems, especially in recent years. But BCM (at least VMware under BCM) is a complete sh-t show. The VMware managers probably have no guts when interacting with HT, so he does not get the real info from the field. Bad and rash decisions are made from the top. Golden handcuffs. VMware went from coddling employees to being just a number.

sales here
why on earth would i leave?
i'm staying for as long as hock will keep me

i really don't get the negativity. if you want to change the world, go volunteer. Or, go build something and/or work for a startup.

if you want to make money, work at Broadcom.

Everyone is desperate to leave BC

Except the VMware managerial class that somehow managed to stay, get huge RSUs, and still do nothing of any value for the company.

They have mastered the art of enriching themselves off the labor of others, extreme yoga poses that demonstrate their political dexterity and wordsmith skills that pull the wool over the eyes of many.

In its own way, it is an impressive achievement.

I’m hopeful Hock will root these grifters out of the company.

In general board director accepted the request for 11k employee RSU with average 300 plus each and 25 VP RSU with average 3500 plus each.
So that is the number VMWare people got offered.

The only question remaining now is how many dare to stand up to this PE tyrant.

History has shown that the overwhelming majority of large customers will pay more for less and focus efforts elsewhere to offset the company’s increased cost of doing business.

Small customer’s contracts will eventually expire and the new lows of customer support will drive them elsewhere.

HT's assumption that VMware employees and customers are all just as apathetic as CA and Symantec has yet to be proven. This is a huge gamble that could easily result in more people saying "I don't accept these terms" -- some brave people will revolt.

The only question remaining now is how many dare to stand up to this PE tyrant.

I used to get paid to do nothing from home. Why is that wrong? That is what I learned from both the Internet and watching my managers in action. That’s two, count them, two direct sources. I am changing though, now I do nothing from the office. However, I’m still conflicted. Doing nothing from home was easier.

Everything after this is irrelevant because you’re an id--t.

We have a large group. Things aren’t perfect but so far the people that have left after getting an offer are in the good riddance group. The ones that you could never get on the phone when they were WFH. Useless.

I’m not really doing anything and waiting for the next tap in the shoulder. No one seems to have urgency. Customers aren’t getting quotes, no fees are being removed, it’s just sh-t. But no one really knows the new PnP so it’s just a combined shotshiw.

I quit 4 weeks ago, cannot stand their new slavery rules and RTO policies with gmail\google chat nonsense. If you can handle it, good for you !
But if you cannot, start looking for a new job asap.

And yet still you can’t see you’re in your own bubble. Typical

"looks like everyone is miserable there. Looks like everyone"
No wonder you are miserable. Can't see the world beyond your bubble. There are thousands of us, so it's definitely not everyone. There are like >100 in the team I'm a part of that are happy with the overhaul.

Go ahead down vote. I wanna see how many "bubble people" here.

"I’d like to see the entire leadership down to VMware “VP” level totally gutted. They don’t know what they are doing no matter what dictator is put in charge."

That's just the starting point, then do the clueless Senior Directors. All cowards.

For sure. Tough job market and tough time of year, but many have their eye on the door and looking for options.

Golden handcuffs only works up til the moment the stock price heads south. Watch the accounting with great detail.

Those folks won't survive in BC anyway.

So far they are, I’d like to see the entire leadership down to VMware “VP” level totally gutted. They don’t know what they are doing no matter what dictator is put in charge. So far, they have only shown their fealty to the supreme leader in adopting his ways and policies. They were useless before and useless now. You can’t fix stupid, but you can layoff stupid.

BCM is doing just fine. Just go over to their board. No complaining or worrying. For them, it's about who they'll acquire next.

lol VMware simps everywhere. VMw died because it was bloated with managers with no impact expecting huge salaries and none to zero output. Those folks won't survive in BC anyway.
