Getting Closure

Someone on a previous post asked why can’t you ex employees get some closure and it was a very good question.

My time at Nike kept me up some nights, many years later. I often was left thinking my experience was unique and therefore, I had a large role in it.

After discovering this site it was cathartic! To be presented with a Maxim award in Tiger Woods and then shortly there after getting a satisfactory CFE rating so my bonus was short. I’m not alone!

To slave away in the SAP war room and the. Get a verbal warning for not being at my desk. I am not alone!

I could go on but I am here mostly with a sense of relief and clarity. That place is f’d up!

Hoping everyone who needs closure, feels more so, day by day! These posts are cathartic...the Op was top performer and not rewarded appropriately, not right! I get it. Me and my team over delivered revenue, profit after 1/3 resource decrease. That earned me “successful” and with arbitrary lower merit, psp. When challenged, my manager (he/him) said I (she/her) needed to socialize more after hours and on business trips. Out of bounds! How I got closure? Realizing his review of me had nothing to do with my performance. Why I occasionally read these posts and comment? Revealing the truth frees me.

I was an intern and drank so much kool-aid. Loved every minute of my experience but didn't get a return offer from HR. I was crushed, really depressed. Interviewed for a full time position again a few months later and didn't get the offer either. Instead I joined a company with great WLB and better pay than I would have received at Nike. I feel lucky to be outside the berm these last few years but still I wonder what might have been.

Not sure if there's closure yet. Like a bad relationship it will take longer to find closure the longer you were in it. I moved away and found a similar role in a totally different industry - that has helped me get a lot of perspective on things. Therapy has also helped me deal with the anxiety and depression that started during my last couple of years at Nike. I'm definitely not totally over it (duh, I'm posting here) but at least I don't feel so alone/crazy any more after reading about so many more people who had the same experience.

If you are naturally a sensitive, empathetic, person Nike is a very hard place to navigate and find success in your career. If you are neurodiverse it's very easy to get trampled over and left behind. There is just no place for people like us in that organization.

My director was s-xually harassing female employees while his office door was closed for years while I worked for him. #timesup Nike. I will have closure when people at the top who do nothing except get away with abuse, harassment and bullying are exposed and pay for what they’ve done to us. Let it burn to the ground.

Without fear, there is no power. Nike is very powerful and fear Is the foundation.

@Op when I started at nike I took an uber ride to their campus. I was new in the area the cab driver told me he had a phobia of the nike Campus. I was surprised. Shortly after i figured out what he was talking about. This company ruined my life.
