I am in management and at this time there are no layoffs planned! This could change in the future but at this time it is not happening. Sabre is actually trying to proactively reduce attrition of critical employees, however, if you are a non-critical average performer then you are still not on a layoff list but management will not take steps to keep you if you turn in a resignation.

Reading all these posts left me with one conclusion - it is definitely time to move on.
- What we know is that no one has been able to change the contracts with airlines and hotels where revenue is generated per booking. Isn't this revenue model is one of the main flaws?
- Does Sabre offer anything different than the competitors - Amadeus for example? Does Sabre have any real patents? It does have a large customer base.
- I would expect Sabre to continue to operate on a loss for at least the next 3 years. The company seems to borrow more and more money... I will let you come up with your own conclusion here.
- It seems that the way management decides who is essential and who is not is more of an art than a science. I have seen their RACI and MECE lists. They simply don't work. Some PM decides who they need who they don't need. If the PM feels challenged by certain individuals then they are added to the layoff list. If you are sure that you are critical employee, then disregard my post. I never know if I am critical or not. If fact why don't they publish their lists of critical employees?
Like an fn soap opera. Same lousy story line, same lousy actors, same lousy channel.
Get to work, people!
FFS. This company has to cut to the bone to survive, I am not a friend of anyone on the board. In fact all I know about is that I have looked at this company as an investment opportunity. But its going down there is no way in the next 3 years that this company can do anything more that sc-ape by. So sad....
I'm a friend of someone who sits on the Board there at Sabre. My understanding is that there are layoffs coming in two phases at the end of the year. The first is already planned, but the other is still being debated. The second one will likely be measured to appease the market, but won't be final till after the US. election.
@6wgf+16WTTKyU aka high management fail guy. You really suk at trolling. No one in vp+ mgmt refers to themselves or that group as 'high management'. So right off we all know its bs. And if a member of senior leadership was posting he or she would have to be a complete fin id–t or a complete ahol to add that line about bonuses which is both complete c-ap and clearly simply an attempt to trigger reactions.
To summarize anyonme with a brain can see youre both an id–t and an ahole. Probably high too. And definitely full of sht. But thats ok pal. You be you. Just feeling really sorry for you that you have so little going on in your life youre spending it here trolling and trying to scare and insult people. So, smoke up - it may make you feel less like a loser.
No $hit. I'm in high management and I can tell you that layoffs are coming in december to improve 2020 revenue so we can pay ourselves (vp+ levels) higher bonus in march - live every year.
Who decides who is critical? Some VP or above who is spoonfed rubbish by their CYA minnions? The entire evaluation process is nonsense as most can attest. If you don't kiss up to your evaluator or don't play their games you will be deemed average and non-critical. And you will be top of the list to be discarded.
There is no way any of us in sales are going to make anything at all even remotely similar to our targets for the year. Do you think we will have any cuts?
Some managers certainly don't know who of their staff is more critical and who is less critical but if they make the wrong choice and layoff someone critical so they can keep their useless buddy then they will answer to that choice with their job if something happens that requires them to beg their leadership to rehire the critical person who they laid off.
In a way, this is going to be very good for Sabre because a lot of rotting wood is finally going to get pruned out because now finances are so tight that we cannot waste a cent now. Its long overdue.
"Some people are more critical than others. It's a fact. It's just reality.
Sabre isn't s charity."
Yeah, especially the self-complacent managers, who create chaos instead of creating clear plans and roadmaps for the future.
And the decisions who is "critical" are probably made by ppl who have no idea how the products are really being built and who contributes most value.
You have to be "special" to equate getting a salary to charity.
I can understand if in a family business (pizza parlor, nails saloon etc) as soon as customers stop coming then workers have to be laid off.
That should not apply to a multi-million dollar company.
What we are living through is the result of missmanagement and greed. The sick notion that the stock price is the most important thing in the world and must be kept up by cutting costs (basically us). No other trick in their toolbox. Just cut cost.
What executives (and you) don't seem to understand is that the company's wealth is not created by the grace of God. That program that Sabre sells multiple times in million dollar contracts was written by 5 developers who made 40k per year. The difference between those salaries and the million dollar contract IS what created wealth for Sabre. (and yes, the Janitor is part of the support team that allowed those 5 developers do their thing).
By cutting staff we are handicapping our ability to create wealth.
(finally: who is "essential" for this creation of wealth?)
If the janitor was laid off 5 months ago would you have noticed? Would Sabre's customers have noticed?
The janitor WAS laid off 5 months ago.
They weren't needed. The offices are all empty. Offices are being closed.
Some people are more critical than others. It's a fact. It's just reality.
Sabre isn't s charity.
what a sh– way to talk about people who've dedicated their professional lives to help the company. If anyone ever described me as "non critical - average" that isnt worth fighting for. I'd give my resignation the next day.
Their is a basicproblem with the core of the culture. Everyone matters. Even the janitor.
What a sad shell of a company this has become
If Sabre is burning through 100 mil or more per month. The extra cash won’t last long. Keeping everyone’s pay at the current levels. Still top heavy with still a lot of employees. Sabre going to need to get more leaner to get though this mess. The airline industry probably will not see strong revenue until third or fourth quarter of next year at its earliest.
@1uka+16WTTKyU So, you're the clown, Poindexter. Bon appétit
what does 'proactively reduce attrition of critical employees' mean exactly and what percentage of the workforce are considered critical?
NO layoffs are being planned...
This month.
Gosh. That other clown was right.
This has become theTroll.com
One manager says "no layoffs", the other manager says "cuts are coming"...
Waiting for the third manager to say "I have no clue". SMH.
I am in MaNaGEMent too. More cuts are comming. Everyone keeps thinking that just because Sabre got cash recently, they will use it to pay an extra fat payroll.
Do yourself a favor and start looking outside the travel industry.
No sh– sherlock. End of q4, the earliest layoffs. Not now.
