Qualcomm celebrating 20 years in Bangalore

Qualcomm is partying in Bangalore to celebrate the 20th anniversary of BDC while laying off people in the US, pathetic!

Q is a sinking ship, the writings are on the wall. I'm not aware of any company that relocated to India and become successful, just look at Intel! The management is so stupid that I've seen Q liking a linkedin post mentioninh that Q has more employees and open positions in India!

@1ujx: This is anecdotal, but if you raise a request for H1B to Hock Tan, he says that if anything to be done needs an engineer from India, he would rather get it done IN India.

My friend at Broadcom told me today that its employees in India offices don't want to relocate to US offices anymore because staying in India offers better opportunities to grow.

Not sure, but I think foreign workers working IN their home country for a US company do not need an H1B visa. If this is true, then permitting or limiting immigration is a moot argument. Companies will be motivated to hire foreign workers and let them work remotely. But not sure, like I said.

Celebrating in India while laying off everywhere else? This sounds like Q is beginning a downward spiral. I hope not.

Q does not want modem engineers in US, commoditized modem business can only make money with R&D in low cost centers. If you are in US working on modem consider yourself on borrowed time.
