Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Internal mobility question....

For people who transferred roles internally the past couple of years . . . what sort of pay increase were you able to get, if any? e.g., 5%?

I kind of want to move teams then again I kind of don't. Sometimes the monster you know is better than the unknown. Anyone with a positive mobility experience?

Basically: At 180K base now as a long-time VP and hoping to get a 10pct raise to be “SVP” (i.e., C14).

Post ID: @1uii+1rF6hDEK When you transferred internally that was several years ago when you netted +24% increase in base salary. Citi has gotten more and more stingy and in most cases unrealistic about paying so low relative to Competitors for the same roles. Over the past 5 years I've witnessed co-workers who transferred up to one C-Level get anywhere between 3% to 10%. Let's assume 5% is the average as a conservative estimate. Others who transferred at the same C-level got zero % to 3%. Some transferred as SVP to SVP in a front office got only 3%.

Depends on your function and C level. I made an internal movement years ago between different control functions and it was a promotion in C level — netted myself a 24% raise while doing it. But it’s best to come in with comps for the role you’re applying to in the context of your local market you live in and scope/R&R. I had several comps in hand from roles posted by other banks and tech firms in my local area that when I got to the end of the process, HR didn’t argue with the number I provided.

I agree that most people will make more money if go external, but I have only been with the company a short time; hence, my CV would suffer if I left now.

Citi might now be capping salaries/salary increases to save money, so my question might be pointless, but sounds like the consensus is that a 10% increase, if you go up a C level, is reasonable? (I am already on the low end of the new band.)

As the saying goes, the only up is out especially at Citi. In most cases, transferring at the same level to a new department results in zero base increase. Even transferring up one C-level results in only 3% to 10% at most increase, depending on the new department. Citi is cheap because it's destitute. The only way up is out of Citi. If you got a new external job, the salary increase is at a minimum 15% to 300%.

For the same level or higher? I transfered to the same level c13 and even though that job had a higher pay scale; I didn't get an adjustment until the next annual review. If it's a grade level bump it's going to likely be the minimum of the payscale for the bump if you are significantly under or between 5-10% if you are in it's range from my experience.

If you are going up a C level, could be more, depends on your area, technology pays more usually. I moved one level 2 years ago, about 9k raise. Good luck!
