Everyone was offered their job back unless they volunteered to be laid off.

they called back SOME of the union guys in Oakland/Lodi and Morris not all of them these people are right that once the bargaining agreements expire they will all be stuck s—ing wind like everyone else

As if HR isnt one of them.Youre rights come down to individual states decrees my friend.Word of advice,dont cost them too much and make them alot of money.LOOK for anything you can to bill them.Make them pay you for every second.

Well if the union got people called back they they are definitely slowing the inevitable. Why do post the same statement. Not many are sticking up for this place. And the proof is there. Your chances of losing your job are less w a union. The c-ap they pull is what makes people seek out representation.

I still can’t understand how anyone could stick up for this company or still believe the union will prevent the inevitable. I guess some people just have to learn the hard way unfortunately.

They can't get enough contractors to do FTTH installs. They take too long and even the contracting groups know its not worth the time for the amount of money to do them.

The only time i hear from my supervisor is via email and it’s always a threat to do something or be written up. It’s time to get HR involved

Excell is in my neighborhood splicing in JSO’s saw the tech there like 4 days in a row. Plenty of work to call back the guys that got laid off in Non Union shops but there’s no one there to force them to do it . It’s pretty sad guys looked out for themselves.

There was enough proof that contractors were still working, techs took pics, work orders.
This company for some reason will cut off their nose to spite their face.

@1uif+18544m16 everyone laid off in Oakland/Lodi got called back. The reason was using contractor labor to cause layoffs. They can use all the contracted labor they want, but when layoffs happen you need to look at the reason why.

I was the one who posted this originally. I know of three new contracting companies hired for the NJ region. Not sure about anywhere else. In terms of using contractors, they aren’t really doing anything wrong and by wrong I mean violating any sort of agreement or CBA. All of the contracts allow Altice to utilize contractors as business needs dictate (prioritizing in-house in CBA areas) and with the amount of people who were laid off, let go, left on their own and people who are out due to injury, they clearly don’t have enough in-house employees to support the amount of work that comes through daily. I guess you could say that’s the loophole hole. There is nothing necessarily wrong with having a union job but, the point myself and others are trying to make is that it’s not going to help you at Altice. They want the workforce to be 100% contractor labor and they’ll get there, eventually. It’s not going to happen overnight but it will happen.

So what your saying is that they are using contractors to cause layoffs. Isn't that what they just got caught doing? Guess they trying a different angle.

Holidays to be reduced next year. Not enough volunteers for Holidays. There going cut back to 5 Holidays. Only Thursday for Thanksgiving. More to come.....
