Thread regarding Sears layoffs

List of at most 81 non-closing Sears stores

This is a list of all the Sears stores that were known to be open and non-liquidating in mid-March 2020 (before Covid-19 closed all of them), AND which have NOT subsequently been listed on jobs.sears.com as closing.

These do not include Sears Hometown, Sears Outlet, stand-alone Auto Centers, or anything else that is not listed as a "Sears Store" on www.sears.com/stores.html

It is quite possible that some of the stores on this list have started liquidating without a "store closing" jobs posting, or even that some have permanently closed without bothering to liquidate.

In the list, "- O" indicates a store that has been announced as reopening on https://www.sears.com/en_us/dap/transformco-Coronavirus-2019-response.html

"- O?" indicates a store that has NOT been announced as reopening, but is nevertheless shown as open on www.sears.com/stores.html (whether accurately or not, I don't know)

Madison reopened yesterday, along with eleven stores in California and one in Maryland, according to https://www.sears.com/en_us/dap/transformco-Coronavirus-2019-response.html

I do not see Madison listed at https://www.sears.com/stores/wisconsin.html . However, this does not mean the store is liquidating or permanently closing. Has it even reopened yet?

Just checked, it is very much still on the store locator. Try again 🙄

Madison, WI isn't listed on the store locator anymore. Are they done too?

Yes, that is exactly why I excluded the Sears Outlet stores (called "Sears Appliance Outlet Stores" on the Sears.com Store Locator pages) from my list.

Please understand although the re-branding is still in the process of being finished, the former Sears Outlets have been sold. They are longer a part of this company. As for the store locator, more often than not it seriously is out of date and not a reliable source.

Sears in Arlington, TX has two "STORE CLOSING" jobs listed on jobs.sears.com. Therefore, I consider it to be a closing store, and I have not included it in this list.

Sears in Arlington, TX has not been announced for closure, either.

I stand corrected. I just noticed that both wassila and key west have posted jobs for temp closing store associates. I am impressed by your research to come up with this list.

Both Wasilla and key west sears stores are not on any closure list and have not been announced by local news outlets. Additionally, they are both on the Sears.com store locator page.

I mention it because I don't think the rebranding has finished yet (there is still a SearsOutlet.com website), and because at least some of the outlet stores at still listed in the Sears.com store locator (for instance, on https://www.sears.com/stores/massachusetts.html ).

Why would you bother to mention the list doesn’t include the “Sears” Outlets? Of course it doesn’t! They were sold in October last year and are being rebranded to American Freight.

@1ubk+15dxIg29 Dude, what are you on? You are referring to stores that closed Last Year. Salem, etc. stores closed LAST YEAR. The only Kmart in MA is Hyannis. OLD NEWS!

I am confused by your comment. The only 'Concord's in my list are in California and North Carolina. You appear to be talking about a store in New Hampshire that has already closed.

The sears in concord just needs to finish liquidation once it opens
It was already announced as a closing store before covid started

Sears announced Thursday that it is shutting 51 Sears and 45 Kmart stores in the next few months, leaving a total of 182 locations open nationwide. Concord’s store, as well the store in Nashua, will be among those closing by February, according to lists provided by the company. Kmarts in Hooksett and Salem will also close.

Aside from losing lots of money, Eddie's other dumbbell strategy is the remaining locations of Sears FLS and Kmarts mostly on the coasts and islands and slowing picking off the outliers.

Oops, Lafayette, Louisiana actually should have an "- O?" notation, indicating that it is not on the released reopening list but is listed as open in the Store Locator.
