Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

GF nightmare finally over.

I was laid off from GF after nearly a decade of service. This happened 2 weeks before Christmas 2022. For many years I watched as my coworkers came and went. I watched as multiple CEO’s dropped the proverbial ball. I experienced the frustration and disappointment of me and my peers as raises decreased Year to year. Health insurance cost increased. I shook my head when GF abandoned 7nm . I was skeptical when Gf went public and had 2 straight qtr’s of profit and growth, and rightly so. They were successful on the backs of employees who worked straight through the pandemic only to enact layoffs and delay raises for employees leftover. I chuckled when the CEO recently dumped $15 million of his stock. Yet, I stayed on with the belief that somehow things would turn around, that I would “survive” another round of layoffs. I knew my salary would eventually become a target on my back. My experience and skill set took a backseat to GF’s bottom line. GF’s is shortsighted. My only regret is that I wish I had the ba--s to leave this company years earlier. One thing about GF, it’s a breeding ground for malcontent and complacency for employees.

Fast forward 4 weeks later. I have accepted a position with another company and now able to bank close to $40k in remaining severance pay and move on with a new direction and purpose. There is a big world outside of GF’s toxic bubble. Don’t be afraid to pop that bubble and move on.

Congratulations @op
Glad everything is working out for you. It is always difficult to leave what you know and comfortable with, sometimes you need a layoff to get your life back.

PS ignore these down votes. It's probably a single person who keeps clearing their cache or using DuckDuckGo browser to vote multiple times.

congrats on the new job. Glad your nightmare is over.
Latest initiative at GF since you left is that GF has trained a special group of their skilled a-s licking managers and other forms of primates to down vote any posts or comments critical of GF or GF management on layoff .com and bite individuals responsible for those posts and comments. So watch it!! :))

Quick question, when are raises happening? March? Or is it indeed being delayed?

So, raises haven’t decreased? Health insurance cost hasn’t increased? Raises haven’t been pushed out? 3 major layoffs haven’t occurred since 2015? GF didn’t abandon 7nm? CEO didn’t unload a bunch of stock? I mean yeah, if none of these things have happened, I’d say the OP is full of it. But everyone of those things is true. Truth hurts, obviously.

Take your own advice? Or maybe this is your last post here?
