Leave GE on Your Own Terms

It’s so funny to read these posts. Same stuff over and over again. Across the board, hourly or salary, if you are still working at Schenectady you must have no real talent or so little ambition that you are willing to circle the drain with the rest of the roaches. I left there many years ago when I saw what a mess it was. Terrible work force, outdated practices, and management staff that thought it was still “the bubble” days of the mid to late 1990’s. Do yourself a favor and leave on your own terms. And yes, you may actually have to move for a great opportunity. Put in your big boy pants and just do it and never look back. 5 years from now you will be glad that you did and further ahead. At this point you must be willfully ignorant if you actually believe that Schenectady has any future...and you deserve the pink slip when you get it. Good luck.

Too busy whining and complaining to prepare themselves for the future while waiting on the entitlements? Entitlements only go so far. So, if you can’t retire, might as well suck it up and stop whining while your working and making everyone as miserable as you. Suck it up, put on your big pa----s, do something either there or elsewhere even if it’s a change in attitude. Not a blowhard or an id—t when you can solve it for yourself.

Unless you already have a better deal lined up for you, anybody would be an id--t to show themselves the door be letting GE do so. There is a complete difference in entitlements alone between leaving on your own, and being made to leave. You have to be kidding me if nobody realizes that. All this talk about just quit if you're unhappy is a bunch of hot air by a bunch of blowhards who are probably worried about being laid off themselves. Yes I get tired of the whining and complaining but there are many others who are just as unhappy but aren't openly vocal about it. Just like those who are vocal, they won't leave either.

1ner+1bayr5vr- if so many want to come back than utilize the dues they paid and bring them back? If the pay and bennys are so good they should be way better for the dues we pay. People I talk too some make more most have better ins and other perks. Yes I will leave early and call in when I want. Those pink slips are coming 2021!

@1bas+1bayr5vr, I don’t believe you when you say can’t wait to be shown the door, everyone knows where the door is located. No one has to call in or leave early with you, do it on your own, it will have the same effect “nothing will change” except a write-up and making you feel better personally. You have ideas to make it better for you, take the plunge, walk out permanently and don’t look back. A large percentage admit they miss it, the people, the pay/benefits. Good pastures are not always greener on the other side, especially when you can’t even complain without being shown the door. Start your own business, call your own shots instead of being a worker bee for someone else calling them. Good Luck to ya!

GE would love to see all of you walk out early on one day. This world be an unauthorized strike and then the company would lock out all union "workers." I'm glad that the author of some of the previous replies has thought this out.

@1twv+1bayr5vr- misery loves company good one. I can’t wait to be shown the door or at a minimum we band together and call in sick on the same day. Or we all leave early the same day per shift

Misery likes company (GE). Ever ask yourself each day what can I do to make it better for myself and others around me besides complaining? Get in the swing of it now, you might as well, as any other future workplace will immediately show you the door.

GE Schenectady: We've been here and fully operational since 1892.

Geriatric Millennials in their 30's who work at GE: I've been here for so long that this place would collapse without me. They will never get rid of me because I'm too important.

GE Schenectady: You obviously failed to learn our history or know how we've made it this far before you. We've kicked more important people than you'll ever be out the door without a second thought. Your absence will go unnoticed just like all the past ones you know nothing about. Hold my beer.

If the the entire work force called in for a day the company would probably save money because there would be zero defects for the first time in
History. You craftsmanship sucks. Go ahead and call in. No one cares anymore. You’re all replaceable. Just warm bodies with no skill, big egos, and bad attitudes.

Hope all the union dirtbags that get laid off this summer loose their homes, cars, and any pride they have left. Bunch of knuckle dragging sc-m that are too ignorant to follow simple directions. They will soon be back living in their parents trailers with their pregnant girlfriends and illegitimate children. Better get those palms ready for the unemployment checks and welfare cards boys! Can’t wait to see all of you under skilled, over paid, lazy, ignorant, dr-g addicted, complaining, ‘man children’ back out on the street. You will be bagging my groceries at Walmart in six months and hoping for a two dollar tip for not breaking any of my eggs.
The Schenectady union work force is skill-less and worthless.

We should put out a date and see how many have the guts to call in on the same day. Then they will realize they do or don’t need us anymore. The union will help them with the slow reduction and speed it up for them. However most of the 301 about 98% won’t do it or think of it because they are scared.
