They talked up the big pay cycle for months, now they are graciously giving 5% raises

Current broadcom employee here. Just got the first salary adjustment in 3 years. (since back in Symantec) 3%. Sorry guys, they view your "total compensation package" as much more important than base salary. (although much of it is derived from base salary...)

Get your salary bumped up while at vmw. They will likely move you across with that same number, but don't count on it growing after acquisition.

COLA is not even a product supplied by the company in the breakroom. Don't expect to keep up with bidenflation at Broadcom.

However with that said, the RSUs and ESPPs are nice. Would be even nicer if the stock price started increasing again.

I got enough of an % increase to add about $115 / week after tax to my base pay. I think that is pretty good. I guess it would also mean a higher bonus in the unlikely event that they will actually be paid.

Unlike previous years, no one in my group has heard anything about a raise, even a small one. Maybe boss is late with the news - doesn't bode well for us.

I am amazed at the sheer level of whining on this site. Do you realize that not all companies, and in fact, most companies do not provide bonuses or salary increases annually? I've been at companies where neither of those happened. So maybe put on some big boy pants and be happy you get a bump in pay period.

Inflation would impact anyone the same. If inflation is at 9% then anything less then 9% isn't keeping up with inflation and cost of living. While yes if you got 10% and made 100k it would be less then someone getting 10% at 200k you are still getting more then what inflation is currently at.

Posting your percentage on here does not really help. It's interesting but not really useful. 5% on a higher salary could be the same $ increase as 9% on a lower salary. Is the cost of living more expensive for someone on a higher salary than a lower salary? I would expect not. Mortgage wont change, car payment wont change, groceries still cost the same.

Remember, equality is giving everyone the same, equity is giving people what they need to be the same as everyone else. I would think these pay raises were more about equity and not equality.

5% in UK, happy with that in the current climate, have seen up to 25% in other regions though, inflation hitting some areas hard

disagree. Talked to quite a few folks and these are all on par with the other companies. Some of the larger tech companies giving far more, I think the issue is the hype around increases. "This is the biggest year in VMware history" which fell flat in terms of being standard increases.
