Exxons salaries on Glassdoor look pitiful. Should we be concerned?

To those saying Glassdoor salaries are low... are the Pioneer salaries on Glassdoor low?

PNR salaries were over inflated. Too many walking around in high paying corporate jobs without a college degree.

Don't work for Pioneer or XOM, but i'm a Houston resident that was offered by XOM and know people that work there...

I ultimately turned them down b/c:

  • open office seating
  • lowball offer, little to no willingness to negotiate (im a high performer with $ counter offers from other E&Ps)
  • bonus and stock structure has significantly changed, new joiners arent offered anything until like year 2 or 3
  • reviews are cut throat
  • slow change engine, and changes are made without touchpoint inputs
  • US employees are constantly training outsourced teams (ie. accounting is in India, im not in accounting, but b/c my team interacts with them we are expected to assist in training them...)
  • you are buried in work and projects

Anyone else going to need to be living in a van down by the river with your family just to keep your budget even close to manageable?

EM has no assigned desks, no offices, no office supplies, no coffee cups (supposed to bring your own cup to work), no administrative support. You show up like you’re on a college campus - with all your stuff in hand. It’s a complete joke.

just go to exxon layoff page and search with keywords - salary, CL, raise. Lot of posts in the 2020-2022 range when salaries were frozen

We are going to get paid less, work in a horrible, no privacy, cutthroat environment. You won’t be able to purchase the same home (assuming all same) will have to downsize/downgrade to align with mortgage rates. For those with families this is absolutely crushing.

Those offered a job at Exxon will get a comparable comp package. Of course, subtract healthcare, lunch, and the 8% mortgage situation out of your current pay.

@1tsf+1pavju5S those postings are ridiculously low compared to actual salaries of existing lower term employees. XOM is obviously lowballing and manipulating the data to reflect lower salaries to get cheaper new hires. Vile! Cheap new hires and outsourcing to achieve selfish greedy individuals agendas. The pay grades are "top secret" which tells you all you need to know about their business practices and culture. Just run!

What are the pay grades then?

This info is easily accessible on the CVX layoffs page. What are the grades and ranges for XOM? Xom employees so secretive about their low pay lol

Because they are pitiful. It’s barely an upper middle class living, people who think otherwise are kidding themselves. Hope your spouse works and makes some money bc this place isn’t putting you anywhere close to the top neighborhoods in Houston unless you are the tear down on the street lol

HR lowers the salaries on Glassdoor for negotiation reasons, etc.. They are higher in real life. Find another source. Don’t look to Glassdoor for an accurate number.

Exxon pays for experience and skills! Those that don’t have that won’t get hired!

HR sets the salaries lower on Glassdoor, or the salaries on Glassdoor are actually higher than what HR actually gives?

They aren’t accurate. HR sets them lower
