Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

So what now?

We got rid of so many people, most of them actually competent and hard working, and now what? I don’t see that there is an actual plan. Not only that layoffs haven’t served any higher purpose, but there is no higher purpose whatsoever. Cuts should serve long-term development, innovation and competitiveness. You can’t just cut unless your goal is actual oblivion.

@1rsw+1vRnS2us, it's much worse now than it ever been before. Mandatory PIP/Coaching-plans no matter how people are performing. It su-ks big time for mgrs.

These cuts were made to funnel money into AI. Wait until we figure out a way to make profit

What AI? We make boxes that are homes for Nvidia gpus and other people’s software. Our management won’t stop fighting with each other and invest in teams actually doing relatively innovative, even if “applied”, things. They keep picking their loser friends who fail and smoke and mirrors inside and out.

i agree with @1tnx+1vRnS2us this reminds us of circa 2007-2008 when they basically gave the managers a riff/pip quota to impose on their team(s). Dell really turning into the wal-mart of IT where all you have is d-mbed down leadership with next to zero qualification or knowing anything about technology.

The plan is working. Bain told senior leaders to layoff competent folks in the early stages and that would make it easy to terminate and PIP employees in the final stages of what they title “End Game.” They even name the WFRs in FY26 “PIP quotas.” If you’re still at Dell, congrats, they’re going to make it harder to give you any type of severance as they terminate moving forward for 1. Not enough badge swipes 2. Not Returning to Office and staying Remote 3. Not meeting job expectations 4. Not abiding by code of conduct for any reason.

No plan. Just randomly throwing darts by brainless upper management. Some upper management can save a few groups possibly. So many capable employees with talent and vision gone. Cannot replace that.
