I work for KBR at Gorgon. Chevron reports to Perth and other JV owners are unrealistic. Schedule and costs are unrealistic. More over spend coming. Chevron laid off too many key personnel. The owners team is weak. Process engineering and LNG experience is missing. I expect more problems. My friends at Bechtel relay similar comments on Wheatstone. Good news I will continue to have a job for extra 6 to 8 months. Maybe longer if Chevron wrecks more equipment. Root cause analysis on propane compressor is troubling. ExxonMobil and Shell Secondees are good, but most are in Perth and don't see day to day antics. I have lots of ideas how to improve, but Chevron won't listen. Everyone afraid to raise issues with Chevron management

Nige turned around AMBU to one of the best in CNAep. Apparently he knows how to engage leadership and clearly understands how to things around. He should go back to san roman and turn chevron around.

People still don't believe he promoted his IT buddy that has never seen a rig to drilling advisor on AMBU. Guy is nice, but seriously how do you go from ITguy to drilling advisor. Nige rocks. Free cash and promotions...Nige rocks the casbah.

Nige thinks Chevrons money is his money. He does promote and cut side deals with his faves.

As one of the previous posters commented that even his friends he is cutting deals with see the problem. But in this climate who turns down a 225k job.

2nqu- Hern is an example of Chevron's corrupt management. There are many more like him who hire and promote relatives and incompetent friends. They end up with a loyal brigade willing to hand out contracts to third parties for kickbacks, hire their inept, uneducated friends, sexual partners and relatives. This is coming to light now, because it is so obvious that great employees and managers have been cut or quit and the inbred mafia is about to be exposed.

Procedures are long-winded and not user friendly that's one of the main reasons and coupled with no experience the vultures will circle

i have worked for other larges oil and gas players the ABU had very little experience in delivering a MCP and chevron corp had even less. Exxon and shell do, we tried to execute the projects but just do it

Evolve or get taken over ,,,, easy company to survive in if you play the game doesn't work on competency only on buzz works and friendships ,,, maybe that's just life

I worked for Chevron for 26 years and was involuntarily laid off last year. I personally had higher work ethics that this Nigel Hern fella. Based on what @2ouz just said about his experience with the guy, I would like to see Nigel laid off for his actions. Being friendly and open to his employees is a good trait to have, but favoritism to the extent of underming the competency of the company by keeping or promoting inept employees should cost Hern his job.

Lol at "Nige". I owe him a lot. I retired after 9 months in Pittsburgh working with/for the guy. He is the buzz word king.

In the Chevron world I can see where people would say he is competent. I would say Nigel considered me a friend and that's the problem. He is competent, understands basic engineering and knows what a Balance sheet is.......and that much more that most at Chevron. But he will treat people he like very differently no matter skill or work product.

Problem was his ethics......He cut special deals for moves, promotions, moving expenses, putting extremely unqualified employees in jobs that they had no chance to perform in, to keep them safe from layoff but putting the company at risk. These were critical positions and the definition of safety sensitive.

Personally the guy did me favors way beyond what I could ever expect. We did chat about this (Favoritism) when I put in my retirement paperwork. He was shocked at me questioning him "creating" ONE LAST POSITION SO I COULD MOVE TO IT AND MAKE A BUCK ON MY MOVE??????? (It was a phantom position that only existed on paper to get me home). He tried to explain that this is how buisness worked. I worked at bigger companies than Chevron and held higher positions than Nigel.....

But even after essentially calling the guy out for gross buisness ethics violations he did not target me.

People who have worked elsewhere, good solid businesses would see my point when you work with the guy.

The whole reason I retired was Nigel was upfront with AMBU being idled and the workforce laid off and the retirement deals in Pittsburgh will never be seen again.

Like Angola LNG, Wheatstone and Gorgon will struggle to Start up and ramp to plateau. CVX Laid off too many key LNG engineers. HIgh probability of serious incident, more delays, more cost overruns. These errors will cost many more people their jobs.
