Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

The reason why Citi will always lose out employees leaving for more money.

“Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to.”

Citi does NOT adhere to this. Its bad enough that YOU for the most part have to get your own training at your own dime, but the treatment is a whole new ball game. Not only do you have to come up with your own training on your own time, but its summed up with “took you long enough”, now hurry up and work longer, harder and more often.

For the most part you are considered a worker bee of no significance. A pawn to be discarded at will with no value. I know several people rated a “1” on performance but were told “you’re the best, top of the line, but you get “0” for a bonus and 1% for a raise. Things are hard for us all, sorry”. This message was given 2 years in a row. Now when the job market gets better, these guys are leaving and fast.

Post ID: @1tbu+1tzwTsAB I also have had to pay for my own training. And when my managers and co-workers ask questions about how to do ABC, write programming code or other technology matters, I just say I don't know even though we all know, I know. I'm saving my new or additional skills for a new paying Employer (Not Citi) who will actually pay for my skills and knowledge. Take for example Citi's job postings for coding and tech skills. Even at the highest end of Citi's range, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and other successful competitors pay at least 25% higher than Citi, if not 100% to 200% higher.

There’s never budget for real training. Most of the training available are the inadequate online training programs which management throws at you and make you the SME afterwards. I’ve had to pay for my own training in my own time.
They do find plenty of money in their budget for lame and unnecessary trips for senior management to show face at different sites. Discussions during these meetings don’t accomplish anything and are unproductive to say the least. Apparently they are more important than training employees.
