Do you think ADP will provide severance for those laid off at this time ?

Yes. It will be a year and 1/2 severance for future layoffs. You would want to hold out for it. Now If you believe it, I also have swamp land in the Bayou for sale.

I've worked at ADP for some years now and I've never known anyone who was fired for performance or lack thereof. It's pretty difficult to get fired from ADP. Come layoff time though it is a different story. All you can control is your effort and accuracy of your work. Otherwise you will have to s— up your pride and do some brown nosing hoping your manager will overlook how c-appy a worker you really are.

Never a guarantee or required. Who knows? If they can’t, they won’t. Hahahahahaha.
Do the best with what you’ve been given. Agree to work for less to keep steady flow. IJS...

Me and other reasonable folks at ADP heard the "fired for not being productive enough" line quite a few times used on good productive workers. ADP obviously didn't want to pay severance. They were just saving money. It was a c-apshoot as to who got laid off and who got booted out.

Last post, very true.

Refreshing to hear from reasonable folks.

That "not being productive enough" line is tired and when I was there, I never heard those words spoken by anyone. I'm sure at some point someone was fired for not being productive enough, but come on, let it go.

Easy to say severance will be provided when ADP is not obliged to provide it. And employees can still be fired for "not being productive enough", thus saving the company a lot of money.

Your unemployment benefits are impacted by your severance.

Your fears are wrong, severance will be provided.

I fear you are right. Hard to believe how bad it has become at ADP.

Severance will become less likely as time moves on, especially given market conditions. ADP will use the current environment as justification for layoffs without severance. Watch and see.

Well said, post @1spz+14onpu3o. Don't waste energy on what you can't control. I worked more than 30 yrs and the hardest part was understanding that the only thing I had done wrong was to stay, work hard, and earn wages above what they now want to pay. Update your resume and keep your eyes and ears open.

I think severance is 2 weeks for every year of service, maxing out at 6 months.

When I was laid off, I had 28 years at ADP, so capped out at 6 months severance. My paycheck was continued for 6 months, but it was for more since you lose your benefits immediately.

But ADP is not obliged to provide any kind of severance. I know some people were terminated for "not being productive enough", a nice slick way of getting rid of people and not having to provide severance.

Is severance 12 months, 6 months, or less? Severance plus 39 weeks of unemp right now ain't terrible.

I hate to say it, but 15 years means you are very likely to be laid off. You are still earning a decent salary, not the dumbed down wages that are being given to new employees. The aim is to get rid of "overpaid" employees. You will be laid off no matter what your performance is.

So prepare for your exit as best as possible. No need to do your best for ADP anymore. Concentrate on preparing to go on with your life outside of ADP. Keep your eyes and ears open, and yourself rested and ready to go anytime.

I strongly suspect that ADP is finished, so don't be sentimental about it. Do what is best for yourself, so when and if the axe falls on you or ADP, you will continue on somewhere else. I wish you the best.

No reason they wouldn’t but also no reason to assume they would. 20 years 15 years 5 years don’t be an id–t and think it matters. Your value to the company is what matters and who your boss and their exec is and how much their budget is and what their boss told them.

Stop worrying about things you can’t control. You will live longer. Invest in yourself and focus on your personal growth regardless of ADP or any company.

When reductions are announced at the end of the month the standard severance will be given.

15 years means you most likely are in the pension. 15 years means you have been there a while contributing highly. 15 years means you have a target on your back. 15 years is not valued at ADP. 15 years does not equal 16 years, don't fool yourself. TRUTH

That’s so scary. I have been here 15 years and would hate to leave with no severance.

No. That would not help ADP executives cook the books as much.
