Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Has RTO in Atlanta had problems?

I bumped into a coworker who informed he was instructed to move and RTO in Atlanta but “since it’s been a disaster they are no longer forcing employees there”. I felt it was a plan to get many to quit but I’m struck our leadership would ever admit a mistake. I know a third of your life in traffic isn’t a concern to our yes man leadership culture but can anyone share what else happened?

This week after the reservation system removed was a mess and hard to find seats. If they want me to continue to do this, I would like a permanently assigned seat.

Why tell people all over the country they have to move to Dallas/Atlanta when they don’t have space for the people that live there already? Bluff to get them to retire? Surely HR knows how many people work here?

Midtown is probably ideal. Alpharetta is fine. Haven’t been to Lenox (and don’t plan to) but heard that was crowded. But a new building at Lenox has been opened so that should make things better.

The reservation system worked fine. I never had an issue for the 2 months I used it.

Once again we have a work force we know is not working as expected and milking for severance. Well this game is over and the backing is about to be visible when fired and no severance.
Those that say I’ll sue ATT like many are fools. They can fire you no severance.
Plus severance is a privilege that can be downgraded or taken away. So Att lifers pls leave those with young families need to work we cannot help you screwed up your life savings planning

On a good, note if you ever should forget your breakfast or lunch, just scrap the inside roof of one of the microwaves for an instant casserole dish.

“Lennox is a s h i t show; you'll routinely see people working in hallways or in the cafe areas. They’re ins't enough space for one to actually work. Most of the space is laid out like a call center. It is very hard to get any work done, and much of the work I do get done is low quality or takes too long due to all the distractions. Those who are currently assigned to this office barely fit, and don't know what going to happen when the rest of you all get here. And finally, may the odds be ever in your favor with finding parking.”

Same seating and parking issue in Alpharetta, especially Tuesday- Thursday. Not sure who said there’s not an issue.

OP said — bumped into a coworker who informed he was instructed to move and RTO in Atlanta but “since it’s been a disaster they are no longer forcing employees there”.

What do you mean your co worker was instructed to move? First I heard they are no longer forcing employees there - whatever that means.

Like so many posts on this site - one’s perspective is assumed to be what is happening everywhere. I have heard from a colleague that there is no issue in Alpharetta and I know first hand no issues in Midtown.

Lennox is a s h i t show;

Almost immediately upon RTO I heard they leased additional space in a building they previously vacated. There is still a space issue? There is a ton of space in midtown on my floor, many empty cubes.

if folks would have been working from home instead of taking vacations, cooking dinner, watching batchelor, etc they wouldnt be in this mess.

Order from Chaos?!? What caused the corporate real estate crash? Oh yes, it was the fear of the boogeyman requiring the mandate of the roulette pricks before a new normal(?)

One reason all corporations are RTO in 2023 is they unintentionally devalued there own property. Empty real estate brings down the whole market. Fill them up and then sell and lease back or just sell.

Sounds like the planned disaster is working just as they expected it to...organized corporate chaos in a disorganized city! Gotta love AT&T management decisions from the muckity mucks!

I have two colleagues in Atlanta that said the bathroom situation is so bad that they've begun using the reservations system for the stalls. They taped paper with "1","2","3" etc. on each of the doors like office numbers, and you reserve them like you would a conference room, but in 6 minute increments.

The problem is that when one toilet gets plugged up, there's a cascading effect to the others. So now, say stall #2 can't take it next 20+ clients until the plumber gets there, and they have to scramble to try to either reserve another stall or do what they can to head off disaster. I have heard about and seen pictures of the northeast staircase being used as a toilet. There are large landings there and it's semi-private with the double fire doors, so they've been unofficially comandeered. So now there are heaps of fe--s in these unofficial relief areas, with dark yellow ur--e dribbling down the stairs and railings.

In the storage area behind the network closet, there's also a relief area where the Pioneers set up five gallon buckets with toilet seats attached. They have trash can liners in them and anyone doing their business there ties up the liner and disposes of it in the break room like taking care of Fido's business.

All in all, it's a difficult situation, but thanks to creativity and the Pioneers stepping up, it's going well.

Wishful thinking. They're not going to be reversing course on this, because someone else is clearly pulling the strings. Only a naive f00l would still think that all these giant corporations have decided they all must RTO at the same time, organically. I'm not going to claim to know what it is, but it's obviously a part of a much bigger plan. It's only the beginning.

Nah. Everything is going great. I take Marta. I get off at my stop. Go past tent city. Left at the crack addict. Past the prostitutes. Step over some dead bodies and I’m there. Once inside go mma style to secure a seat.

In the other cities that RTO tomorrow you would think you’d see pallets of monitors coming in and electricians walking floors checking and repairing light fixtures. You’d think people would be coming in and scoping where they’ll sit or even moving stuff in. I’m seeing none of this it’s like they cancelled it.

Bend over and grease up. There will be more to come. When d-mb and stupid are at the helm then d-mb and stupid things will be the outcome.

This is rather old - you obviously missed it — but…2 women fought so bad police were called and now police remain on site.
The company removes the reservation system which is now a first coke first serve that seems to be helping and they also have an overflow building.
Many other locations RTO tomorrow. Dallas and Atlanta were July RTO, other states are Tuesday after Labor Day. Hope it’s a better situation than Atlanta that leadership should be embarrassed about but they’re not.
Very poor execution of a critical move — you would think it would have been done with a bit more concern for employees.

RTO in the ATL has been going great. There are multiple locations allowing with plenty of available shared space.
