Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Hey guys

I’m not seeing as many new digital adoptions as I expected. Was talking to my comp reps and they’re getting calls like crazy to install digital. You?

ybt+16jpiN4T To answer your question. Most Cengage employees are bottom of the barrel and they know they are vastly overpaid so they will always pretend with all their ability to be the most loyal lapdog cheerleaders imaginable so they don't get terminated or kept from moving up the short ladder. Then there are those who milk the situation and see it all for what it is and they are usually rooted out in a year or two since it's easy to spot the intelligent people who are not sycophant weirdos... In the cult, the members know who they are.

@1scf+16jpiN4T They are projecting. I would say that 90% of the sycophants know the reality of the company but are not willing or equipped to leave. The other 10% are brain damaged.

@ybt+16jpiN4T Why do so many Cengage employees act like Cengage is not only the Absolute Best Company Ever in the History of Companies, but also get angry and defensive when anyone else, current employee or not, doesn’t feel exactly the same way? It’s like some kind of cult.

Greetings,

Thank you for your message and welcome to Cengage. You have signed on for what I consider to be the most important mission of our times which is engaging with the student and providing them with value. As to your question, I strongly encourage you to listen to our 1st quarter 2021 fiscal year results call on August 13th. This will provide an update on our financial performance for the first 4 month of the fiscal year. While SEC regulations prohibit me from sharing any results in advance, the call will give you a good idea of how Cengage Unlimited is currently performing in the market and how our strategy is evolving. I also look forward to meeting you in person at this month National Engagement Summit in Las Vegas. Please, lets make time to share a mimosa and our thoughts on the company.

Let me give you some advice from an old master I give everyone who’s new in this business. There’s a reason why anyone in sales in this company is labeled prostitute it’s because they stand for nothing and will get on their knees for a buck you’ll learn this at the NES if you haven’t already been, it’s essentially a time and money waster put on every year to excite the less intelligent of our company and give them a purpose but I digress. One late evening while I was being serviced by a young rep who later grew into a young DM who later grew into a etc etc asked me for advice. I told her what I’m telling you now, if you remain on the sales side just fake it til you make it and seek out someone above you for ‘mentorship’ that’s what they call it nowadays and then you’ll never have to worry about any adoptions ever again, trust me on this and you’ll go far...

Well thanks for the non answer.
I'm a newbie and no one is telling me anything, not my mgrs not anyone. I'm a rep in the midwest and I was told to expect lots of new digital takeaways but no one is getting back to me when I shout out to my schools. Anyone else confirm? I was talking to a Mcgraw rep and they said they're slammed. How so?

There is so much anger and hate from former employees for being let go on this site it’s impossible to tell who is telling the truth and who is trying to sow discord and fear among the employees who still have a job. The statement that other companies are getting calls ‘like crazy’ but Cengage is not does not pass the sniff test. If you have a job, best to simply wait and see what happens this Fall rather than depend on rumors that are often highly suspect.
