Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Never have I…

Never have I worked at a company with more miserable employees, who hate their jobs, but are stuck because the job market is so tough. Morale is awful and watching all the leaders who game themselves big bonuses gloat about how great they are on LinkedIn is sickening. Is this what banking with care looks like?

I left a smaller bank based in Charlotte, for Truist and I regret my decision every single day. The culture was much better, we actually had fun in the office, got free food here and there, morale was high, and nobody feared being laid off. Benefits were better and the office wasn’t full of suited up snarky people.

The degree that Bill and the board are pushing the investment bank at Truist is almost laughable. They are hiring high priced talent (alleged) left and right. It is apparent they are trying to make up the insurance revenue loss in this area. Good luck with that. Bill so badly wants to be Wall Street relevant while he ignores and ki-ls the banks core business. The competition is slowly taking away clients and it is obvious they don’t care.

Getting many calls from my prior colleagues who are miserable. More and more work is dumped on them and leadership is inept and has no care or compassion and is making more non value added work for them vs. simplifying things and prioritizing.

They did me such a big favor RIF’ing me.

They paid me out to leave and I had a new job lined up right away.

I have a feeling they will call me back in a year or two to try to recruit me back to clean up the mess! My mental health has improved as well.

@1sbq+1rD5cPXL Actually yes for the most part. And it wasn’t nearly this dysfunctional. I know a lot of people at credit unions, fintechs, and small banks that are pretty happy.

*So in your past jobs most the employees were happy?

So in your past the jobs most the employees were happy? Where was that? Asking for a friend.

It sure seems like everyone everywhere hates working and feels stuck. Don't think that's unique to truist

@qee+1rD5cPXL Because you worked at “big banks.” Small banks and financial institutions are better in this dept. Way better morale because you’re closer to the halls of power, more autonomy, etc.
It doesn’t surprise me that the “two other big banks in Charlotte” or whatever don’t have good morale either.
