Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

What is Allstate's competitive advantage?

Every company needs at least one.

Pricing? X
Coverages offered? X
Ease of doing business? X
Customer service? X
Claims handling? X
Leadership? X-X

Carl Mayhem being slightly less annoying than Flo, lizards, and emu's???

Actually a serious question if anyone can answer.

Competitive advantage? How about we start with maintaining the company as an actual functional insurance entity which we are becoming less and less of. We are barely relevant anymore in the insurance industry let alone competitive in any facet.

Agree Parsons needs to be termed. She had front row seat and accountability and did not manage risk AT ALL. Claims is a mess and was once significant competitive advantage. Brandt must get Officers and Directors who can lead or he gets fired. Guy Hill is over hill and needs to say good bye.

There isn’t one - Allstate is selling an outdated product with an outdated rating plan on an outdated system and a huge amount of tape trying to hold it all together. And don’t believe anyone that says the new product is great - they tried to sell it in National General (Glenn’s idea) and it was only competitive for the worst of worst auto business.

None of the above. There is nothing that appeals to consumers regarding Allstate anymore compared to the competitors. And with the narrow minded, inept, egotistical leadership team that are "all in" with and refuse to admit Transformative Growth is a major disaster and failure there is no fixing this. At least until all of these leaders including Wilson, Rizzo, Brandt, Parsons, and the rest are shown the door for their failure in management and execution.

We used to have good claims service. Then support was gutted, adjusters were laid off, processes were made incomprehensibly complicated, and it became impossible to get a mistake corrected. Lawyers know how bad it is at Allstate, and they are circling for the ki-l, ie bad faith with large judgments. The only people who have come out ahead after Transformative (non)Growth are litigious lawyers who are licking their lips!

It use to be claims, agents, and brand. Claims is a joke at no fault of their own, agents are disenfranchised, and questionable marketing decisions have hurt the brand. Allstate’s future hinges on what appears to be a new technology that new products are layered on which have yet to be rolled out. Allstates complete future is relying on price with a new distribution model (direct) that has destroyed UW profits. Allstate is a lot more fragile than meets the eye.

I can say without a doubt that it’s not claim service. Our entitled claim employees are the worst. They would rather spend time on this site complaining about stuff that will never happen instead of helping clients. They are the clowns of the industry.
