Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

what is even the point of this rebranding exercise?

no , like seriously , what is even the point of this rebranding exercise? the company is already in a huge loss , like legit 75% down this year , and upon all this loss , they wanna spend on the already existing office infra to "change" the logo , what is even the point of this? also i love the fact that they alligned this EXACTLY with the layoff week and shut downt the office globally .GG.

  • coming from someone who was impacted lol

@1ry Sabre needed a rebrand.

How's that?

Sabre needed a rebrand like Cr--ker Barrel did.

The rebranding exercise started long before the financial numbers didn't show up to meet expectations. Jen is doing what she's been paid to do. Sabre needed to rebrand. The timing is really bad though. You can't blame her for the numbers cratering.

That logo really reminds ME of Alcoa Steel company. Is it just me?

@1ax That's precisely why the CMO was hired, to do what she is doing now. This is not Kurt being hoodwinked by some marketing person, this was the plan all along.

Imagine you have an old house to sell, with mold under the floorboards and crumbling support beams. There are several ways you could go about it: You could acknowledge the problems and work on fixing them. You could be transparent, disclose them to a prospective buyer and adjust the price accordingly. Or you could slap a fresh coat of paint on it and hope that nobody catches on.

Kurt is either a liar or a fool.

There is no mystery about Jenn. She has done this all before.

Facts matter. One cannot simply manifest reality from one's own imagination.

He could be a liar who is attempting to deceive, he could be a fool who does not understand that what he believes is incorrect, or he could just be a fool who was deceived.

I hope he is not a liar. There are often legal ramifications for being a liar.

I hope he is not a fool who does not understand his claims. That would be completely incompetent and unforgivable.

I hope, for his sake, he is just a fool who was deceived. Although that strongly implies incompetence, sometimes that can be forgiven... depending upon the circumstances.

The clock is ticking.

The money already spent on this rebranding debacle has already been wasted but it's not too late to choose not to waste any more.

That is the only way for Kurt to save face now.

If this is allowed to continue he will be a complete laughing stock.

Kurt, you cultivate a tough guy image. You can still salvage that image. You have been played for a fool. You have been told lies. Cancel this rebranding now. You will be respected for that.

Well, you have a new CMO from the CEO’s ex-company, so she had to show some work. As for the timing, it was intentional - new company, less people, new brand. Problem is customers still want a decent product…

They took from our VCP to fund this rebranding.

@16b this ridiculous rebtanding is the final straw for a lot of people.

I have lost all respect for Kurt.

What is he thinking??!!?

The board must step in. This is like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. We cannot afford incompetence like this.

No.
Simply no.
I'm out. Survived multiple layoffs, changes, reorgs etc. But this is it.
I'm sick of this dummy brainwashing.
Time to press quit button...

How did Kurt allow this rebranding idiocy to happen?

The Shift was the stupidest marketing thing I had ever seen but that was only internal stupidity and cost nothing in comparison to an external rebranding like this.

We probably could have posted a profit last quarter if we didn't waste money on this rebranding.

Maybe we will finally post a profit in 2027.

@157 when will the stock price get to $50?

@157 totally. I already see airlines, inspired by our new logo, lining up to move to our platform. Simply amazing! EBITDA after adjusting for everything negative will be $1bn (NOT)

Rebranding sounds legit, TBH — especially with the explanations given today (although the amount of corporate jargon around it makes me want to puke). Brainwash for starters...

But let’s be fair — the new logo su-ks. Seriously. It su-ks.
Some of the branding elements look really cool and could be developed quite well.
But the new logo — especially on a red background — is a horror. A total no-go.

The overall cost would probably be similar to the reorg (60M?) — I really wonder if it makes sense.

The new logo is... amazing.

The new catchphrase is... amazing.

What else can I say?

I am simply amazed.

Wow.

Amazing.

Yep that's how I feel.

A M A Z E D

I am just a bit disappointed we didn't (air quotes) take this opportunity (air quotes) to also rename the company to "s AI ber".

Missed opportunity.

But maybe renaming the company would have been a waste of money compared to this super cheap amazing rebranding.

@OP The same CMO did the same thing with the same team at Travelport a few years ago. Was pretty well received, but didn't change anything of course. It's arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

These people are bunch of wierdos and trying to be a tech company with some of the lowest grade tech in the office for the people. Like wth is this salesforce. I have seen a 2 year old startup have a better system to work with people.

Richmond office has been hit with 40+ redundancies. Its so sad seeing my work friends just vanish. I am luckily not affected but what in world is this process?

Clearly there are people at wrong positions in this company and the only reason they are there is because they know some random person at the top and play gold or maybe go on bicycle trips with them.

If all the work comes on my head because of so many crucial people going, I am gonna leave. The world is a better place outside the Richmond office.
