Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Stay safe. Stay home!

Members who are high risk, or who need to care for children that are out of school, have an ill family member or are “concerned with working on site due to Coronavirus,” can be absent from work and use vacation, sick leave or excused LWOP, without having to exhaust benefits or face discipline. You will need to notify management that you must be off work due to COVID-19 reasons.

@3xj I mean that’s what nurses and doctors dealing on the front lines of the virus are expected to do because of the shortage of N95’s meanwhile our inessential a**es are being called back in so they can hand us our warn notices and so we can get to painting those yellow lines on the floor to somehow get the plane re-certified

I hope everyone is ready to be given just a single cheap disposable mask that Boeing expects you to reuse every day! Nice union.

@2vro. Yes I totally agree. We should keep all the guys stuck in their grade 3 job that are unable to pass the basic math green light and get rid of all the guys that took initiative and used Boeing’s system the way it was designed.

The majority of Boeing employees who leave will simply go back to the jobs
They held before
Prison Guards, Line Cooks and Carwash Attendants

You know what?? After reading this thread in it's entirety, I see why Boeing wants to lay as many of you off as they can. You are complainers, slackers, lazy over paid employees. Oh wait, I forgot egotistical. Good luck finding a job out there guys.

@1rnw+14xRloG6 You don't need to call and ask anybody, you just need to apply. The union said itself that you may qualify. Not everyone of course, but a lot of us can and will qualify. I don't know why that's so disappointing to you. There is still a very high risk of transmission and a very valid safety concern.

So the fact is many of us are eligible, truthfully, without any lies being told. I don't where you even got that notion. Nobody needs luck to be eligible for benefits, especially not from an arrogant person such as yourself.

@1yvq+14xRloG6, call them, ask them. If you turn down work, from your own company or another at the same pay or better than what you make now, you will be denied.

Further, if you take monies you are not eligible for you will have to pay it back with interest.

And if you lie on your application, it is felony theft.

Like I said, good luck with that.

@1ews+14xRloG6 Thoroughly read the union update: https://www.iam751.org/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/view_article.cfm&HomeID=824873
And then throughly read the new eligibility checklist. It is indeed true. We are in the middle of a national crisis if you are not aware.

@1usm+14xRloG6, good luck with that. If that were true, you could choose not to go to work and apply for UI benefits anytime.

This is not like FLMA that you can abuse.

@1jvc You are incorrect sir. Many of us qualify for the new expanded benefits.

According to the unemployment checklist a lot of us do. You only have to answer yes to 2 of those question.

@1jsl+14xRloG6 if you do not work and it is the company's doing (shutdown or furlough) you can collect unemployment.
If the company is open and offering work and you CHOOSE not to work. No, you cannot collect unemployment.

@1dxc+14xRloG6, I hope a lot of people stay home. That will make it easier to choose who to layoff or fire (if too much senority)

Don't go in unless are comfortable doing so, which most of us aren't lol. Maybe if enough of us stay home they will get the message. It's not safe to return to work yet. What kind of company deems their employees as essential workers when they aren't even doing essential work!?
