Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

The distant leadership

Not surprising people are using this site as there is no information from the disgraced "leadership" team at all. Who last posted that they've all secured their own positions and how excited they are to share their org charts. Then they went silent while we all got layed off. No one knows who is next as there is a total leadership and communication vacuum, so people come here.

Not one senior "leader" has shared in the pain and not one has been seen since the m---acre began. No guidance. No support. No presence. Fair weather leaders are not leaders at all. None deserves to use the title "leader" ever again. Scrambling over their staff to be first into the lifeboat ("so excited!") and then rowing away in silence while we drowned. In the ship they steered. And then saved themselves. Never seen them so "agile" until it came to making the "tough decisions" to jump into the first lifeboat.

Blocking this site won't shield them from the permanent shame of their cowardice

This is initially a post from a thread on the TR board about the alleged blockage of this site in some TR offices, but the reason that I decided to repost it is that the original poster painted a good picture of how our leadership is distant from the workers, living in their own worlds and playing with our destinies.

JC wasn't distant yesterday, being interviewed on camera in the 3rd floor breakout area.

Yesterday was also the day GTM in London were told whether they were safe or not.

Great leadership that.

This is sadly very true. TRUE leadership would've behaved very differently. Cuts were inevitable but true leaders would've handled this with a great more dignity and grace.

The whole #BeRefinitiv was such a farce and such a disrespectful way to kick things off - regardless of which side you fell on after the RIF. "Launch" parties after the layoffs would've been subdued too, but a much more appropriate way to handle things - both for those going and those staying.

Obviously the existing LTs (which have, largely, remained unchanged) did not change the course of the company. Without fundamental changes at this level the DreamCo alluded to won't come to fruition.

Very few people (none?) in the remain org structures are real change-makers - and that's what's really needed. As a result, what they're moving towards ultimately is a break-up and sell-off of what's left. $6 billion start-up? Pfft!

If this were the Titanic, David Craig would be dressing up in women's clothes just to get a place on a lifeboat.

Surely Blackstone must be looking at the leadership team to make changes. They have had many opportunities to turn TR around and make it more competitive against the likes of Bloomberg, but have made little impact. The response has always been to increase the margin, but making cuts.

There are many that have been promoted or stayed in very senior positions because of cronyism or even HR targets (rather than the best qualified/experienced person for the position).

I once read this interesting quote, which reminded me of some in the ELT !

"Steak over sizzle. Instead of working to improve their competency or attitude, many people focus on networking, looking attractive, etc. Ultimately, you’ll feel better about yourself and make a bigger contribution if you focus more on your steak than your sizzle."

The real comments of what people think is here not the HUB .. Always fascinates me how many support the ELT in a desperate attempt to be noticed or contribute to their views with utter a*s licking .. Pathetic

The same people will likely be axed ..

I had to lay off people before, it's hard. They are avoiding it to avoid pain and uncomfortable situations- this is not how it should be handled, they need to accept the responsibility and show compassion, hiding is easier but now is not time to hide.

Bad news: TR and r----dative are full of poor and selfish managers (dont use the word leader) who only care about themselves

Good news: I doubt their charade will be able to last much longer. A year yes. Much longer, no. They are like the C- team and BS will see it

Stupid david craig has to be on the ropes. Same with rick “burger” king and the rest

This is a very good post indeed....i remember this dude who once came in a hotel conference room chiming BE HERE NOW! A slogan everyone is posting / posing on ones desk like a b---s--- trophy ...

and I have read and felt so disgusted with people posting likes on Deb's hub posting or LinkedIn kiss a-- , amazing how low down the gutters can someone go ...

They like yo lick the ELT boots dry until the get the sack themselves , for me those people , this species are worse than out leadership.
