Intel CEO Voices Concerns About CHIPS Funds, Export Controls

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is lobbying for a large portion of the $52 billion that the U.S. will provide in subsidies for new fab construction—and urging the U.S. to ease up on export controls that are throttling sales to China, the world’s largest semiconductor market.

This du----s has single handedly run the US semiconductor industry to the ground. Not just Intel. Pat's mo--nic saber-rattling along with Biden administration's incompetence is the primary reason for the current oversupply situation. American semiconductor firms have lost nearly 50% of experienced technologists in the past 18 months as a result of attrition, layoffs and voluntary separation. The entire memory R&D infrastructure has collapsed. Power/RF is in bad shape. And Logic is just about to belly flop.

Guess how many engineers Samsung, TSMC and the Chinese manufacturers laid off? Not one. What is the f ing point of having large fabs if you do not have any technologists left?

Does the CEO have enough self awareness to realize everyone is sick and tired of his bloviating?

The Chairman of TSMC said Pat is co--y and disrespectful. That about sums it up perfectly.

Jesus how hard is your garden variety physics if you think about it? Anyone who has 110 IQ can study hard enough to understand what is a vector function and maybe geometric sequences and memorize the properties of materials

@1uuv+1o1afHY0. Look at the clothing industry and you see that Americans have been benefiting while the rich have been getting large hauls of money.

In 1982, a cheap pair of youth size jeans was around $20 to $25. Today, I buy an adult size jean at costco for $6 in quantity of 10.

the bigwig on wall street along with the ceo give this other country research or technology that they (the bigwig and the ceo) did not create themselves

they ask that other country to make many copies of this product
they can do this cheaply because the cost of living is extremely low

then the bigwig on wall street and the ceo make a ton of money on production costs

its simple and not even clever

it looks remarkably like a foreign plantation
when did americans agree on this?
how much are americans saving on each one of the foreign products?

Materialism made China wealthy and powerful, the rest of the world is to blame for that because the writing has been on the wall for decades.

It's all about money, security of the nation be damned.

"urging the U.S. to ease up on export controls that are throttling sales to China"

just to save time, give me the kn--e and i'll stab myself in the back

Intel is deluded not only about its 3rd placement in the Technology leadership table but also about the Chips Act - they thought/presumed/want it to be the Intel Chips Act in both the US and EU ….. it won’t be. Especially in wake of TSMC et al announcement for Dresden …..
