Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Baytown layoffs are here

Anyone in Baytown here that has been given the “option” yet?
What happens to our un-used vacation?
I see that LPS and GRS were great investments lately (sarcasm)

If the union folks decertify, wage folks are in the next upcoming performance based layoffs are next! With exception of the children of upper management. #goldenSpoons

@7ube I would rather wage targets versus mass layoffs. Their work ultimately will need to go back to EM people to be completed and I for one don't want more workload than already have.

Don't know if you haven't noticed but oil prices are depressed and will remain depressed for quite some time. Just about everyone in this industry, and others, are taking pay cuts at the moment to sustain employment.

Do you have your head in the sand or something? Covid is impacting just about every industry right now. Do you think everything is business as usual right now?

Wage is being targeted next, no limit how far this will go.

Place isn’t what it used to be 15-20 years ago, it once was nice and proud to say we worked at exxon. With all the proud in our own propaganda across the site, they are definitely demonstrating how proud they are. Just a paycheck at this point.

Why TF do we need LPS SLS, FLS?

That in itself is a waste of money,
Safety is already crammed in our skulls.

The amount of nepotism in Baytown is disgusting and I’m sure those will not get laid off. #shame

Lol at the @lps and grs comment. In all my years in xom, I’ve never seen so many second lines. LPS was the biggest crock of sht and Bennett made a k–ling selling the company horsesht.
Now laying off lower ranking MPTs/FLS who didn’t want the popularity contest!
I have yet to hear about a SLS+ getting terminated and there are a couple that for sure have made it through the ranks by s—ing major a$$, a BTL w/a CL 28/29, now that’s someone overpaid.

It’s 8 to 10% lay offs across the board.
Every year for the next 3 years

8% is the change in guidance for ranking. They are not letting 8% go.

Pretty sure it's 8%...in fact one manager communicated it during a town hall probably by accident....

Layoff in Baytown will be close to 8% of the non-union salary workforce. No Layoff of union wage earners, that will be normal attrition and retirement, and a few rare causes of for cause job termination (D&A, theft, COI, ethics etc). Contractors doing exempt jobs will be heavily cut first and exempt redeployed to take on some of that work where possible.

Note the average retirement attrition rate is 3%. So reducing hiring gets a 3 % reduction. The 8% of low performers allows XOM to hire talent from Universities with the hope of upgrading the workforce. During boom times or 2006 to 2016, XOM lowered its recruiting standards and hired some weak people (and other competitors got candidates we wanted). If you are in the bottom 10 to 20%, and survive this cutback. It is not over for you. Next year you will be bottom 10% unless you take action NOW. You have 9 months before next year's ranking, you better demonstrate quality and quantity of work and great business judgment, OR YOU ARE NEXT.

It has begun in Beaumont as well. Some CL 23/24s. No PIP option, no 3 months pay. Immediate termination.

Someone make it clear. Which one is incorrect? Are we living in the fake news world now in Xom too?

Incorrect. The functional plan was drafted and presented mid June. Don't make things up because you don't know.

The function plan of 3% per year was superseded by 8-10% when the price of oil dropped. Someone posted a link to an internal memo showing changes adopted after the crash.

If you go on the intranet and search baytown 2020 function plan, you can see what the site is planning for headcount targets to be in 20, 21, and 22. 3% headcount reduction per year is what most functional plans across the circuit have documented.

Not so sure why people here say 3%. It has been well communicated to us that it s 8% or more. Someone posted a document stating that.

3% of MPT in baytown. wage does not get PIP'd. Plus most of wage in baytown is union.

3% of Baytown is still more than 150 people at least.

I think you will be surprised how few will be laid off in baytown. Target is only 3% (retirement + performance) from communications I've seen.

The 10% is being way overblown.
