Thread regarding Uniti layoffs

4/16 - We are in trouble

The liars are at it again. I heard from my manager that another big round will happen on 4/16 and this one will wipe out several organizations. What is the point of doing all of this in phases instead of just one big change? We were told that all the "large scale" layoffs are done but now this one is here. It seems like it is every week even though new people keep coming in. All it is doing is making people like me anxious and its tough to keep doing my job.

Wouldn’t surprise me if every telco is rapidly getting in line for a wireless merger/acquisition. Which means aligning org charts, etc. Just like WIN has the past few years leading up to now. When that happens you can count on more posts on this page with more layoff news… just go check out the wireless pages on this site and educate yourselves.

@1rj - care to elaborate? Because right now there's virtually no news about groups affected or how many.

@1r0 I have been working in RIS for almost 10 years. I feel like something is coming. The change yesterday makes me think more changes are coming. I have seen people come and go but never anything like this.

Hopefully get rid of some of the dead weight. Management. Project managers. Analysts.

@1kb - Easy. I show up like every other work day, make coffee, and wait to see what happens. Probably need to fire some legacy Windstream people to make room for more rejects from Frontier.

AI is only as good as the data. The old Windstream data is trash. Fiber records, system records, inventory records. Trash. Inaccurate. Trash.

@jm Directors or VP’s as well. Some org charts make no sense at all. When 6 digit salaries work half a-s and only know how to talk the talk but have no clue how to walk the walk, and are only good at placing blame, they are the real problem. They sure as he-l are not leaders, they are just a worthless expense.

Some staff managers needs to go next. When you 1) look at the org charts they serve no purpose, 2) they provide no feedback or understand how to speak to you as a human with mutual respect, 3) because their position is made up they don't run a team nor do they manage any staff so when they do have to fill in or show up they go off and crazy. Its sad when you see really knowledgeable compassionate leaders let go and yet these few SpongeBob looking fools stay.

Self service, outsourcing, and AI will keep layoffs ongoing. The writing has been on the wall since su nu took over. It is all about the bottom dollar. Employees are the most expensive part of most company’s. If you think they will stop laying people off or stop looking for AI to take over jobs you are blind. AI is cheap compared to any human. AI is taking over a lot of things..including being incorporated into IVR’s everywhere. Try calling a few companies you haven’t in awhile…you might be surprised.

They keep hiring newer and cheaper people for the books. Less vacation time to pay people for. Managers can lie all day but they dont care because most dont have a spine to speak up. They'll just live with managing over seas people. Anytime you hear a staff manager or director speak theres a good chance its lies.
