Apparently the liquidators needed a break as they are conducting sales at other store currently so they decided against release a list of stores on April 22nd and will be releasing the next round of the stores by May 6th instead. I know someone at corporate that told me

Yes, stores are still a thing in 2021, but much less so now than 2001. And in 2041, it will be even less than 2021. And by 2061, we will think of "stores" like we think of rotary phones now. So again, ya they are still a thing, only because they haven't completely phased out yet. In 100 Years, there will be no "stores" as we Know them now. Our great–grandkids won't be shopping in B&M "stores". So yes, they are still there, but only because we're still in 2021 not 2061. Let me Know if they are still there after 40 Years. I'm pretty sure very few will still be.
@3apf+1awhNouE Did you bother reading my whole post? I mentioned that the only thing I buy in stores are groceries, because I'm decidedly old school in that regard. But most of my younger friends buy even groceries online. You can get groceries shipped (including perishables) from Amazon, etc.. There are dozens of apps for buying perishable groceries online.
@3rwd+1awhNouE Of course if you want a cold pop or dozen eggs, in a pinch, you would go to a convenience store. But I wasn't referring to food shopping. I mentioned that groceries were an exception (although that exception is vanishing too, with more and more areas having grocery delivery available as I mentioned above). But ya, some department stores will remain, just like some record/CD stores will remain, but the numbers are dwindling. Other than food (or if I need some tool in an absolute emergency or something), I literally purchase everything I need online. Amazon has made it too easy.
@21bh. If you do all your shopping online and B&M are disappearing where do you buy your perishable grocery items like milk and eggs?
Is there even anybody left at corporate?
This argument about "no stores" does not pass the sniff test. If I want a cold pop, I'm going to walk into the 7–Eleven store and get one right away. Buying that online will require days for shipping, then at least am hour in the freezer. Ain't nobody got time for that!
*typo, I meant inspect them, not expect them
OK, you go to Home Depot. My father still sends/receives faxes, and uses his VCR. Great for you and him! But a lot of people don't, and that number rises all The Time. Demographics is destiny. When boomers are done shopping in stores, that number drops precipitously. Because hardly anybody young shops in person. I'm not that young, I am 40, and I sure don't shop in stores. Most people younger than me certainly don't. Ya there are some boomers that still do, and there are also some people who still use rotary phones and hula–hoops, but that doesn't change the fact that less and less people are shopping in store Every Day. In 20 Years, B&M shopping won't even be a thing, hardly. And why would I shop in stores? I can shop in my pajamas (or even out of my pajamas, LOL), sitting in front of my computer, and I can have just about anything I want at my front door in 48 Hours. What reason on Earth would I have (other than an emergency) to EVER set foot in a store? None. I mean, I am old school for groceries, because I like to buy meats and stuff in person (so I can touch and expect them). But even I am unusual in that regard, because people who are half my age, even by groceries online! When my generation is gone, in about 50 Years, EVERYTHING will be online. Yes, B&M shopping will be there until then, but the trend is only moving in 1 direction, and it is getting less and less Every Day. The future is online, and people might as well get on board, or get run over. When people my age eventually Die out, and the current Millennials/Gen Z, get to their 50's, the transformation to 99% online shopping will be complete.
The argument that "XYZ still shops at Home Depot" is like "I Know somebody who still uses VHS tapes". OK, great, but that number is decreasing Daily, and that number is only trending in 1 direction, and that direction is down. In 20 Years, B&M shopping will be just about done, and in 50 Years, it will be totally done (except for a few nostalgic novelty shops). The future is online. We need to get with it.
Who's even at corporate anymore? Most of the real estate team is gone, the top people in accounting and finance are gone. The lawyers are gone. The fiddlers three sans Leena are gone. SB360 is running the majority of the company, and it's probable that store closings are on a schedule of what makes the most sense for the liquidators. Given Leena's digital "savvy", she couldn't even name the very short list of states where stores still exist.
Home Depot is a store and I frequently go there to buy supplies. Your statement about stores being obsolete in 2021 sounds quite off.
Why? Because the whole concept of "stores", is obsolete in 2021. Most people shop online now. Thats what everyone should focus on. I haven't been in a store, other than grocery, since 2010. There is no need to.
How come they don't open more stores? Yeah we got 3 Home & Life stores that are far from everything, but what was the point of merging Kmart with Sears in 2005 if Eddie Lamperrtt was going to just close stores? Makes no sense why we have not got a new Kmart store in almost 20 years.
No it's already since mid–February it's going to be closed next Sunday
Is Chicago Ridge going to be on the next list?
It could be on the next list
Please be Marshall and Hamilton!
I knew it
I am not I actually once predicted that when the round was announced in November was done in January that there would be another round
Moderators can this post be deleted and any future attempts by Chris Cronin to put it back up! There is no proof of another closure on May 6th. He’s just an I–d–I–o–t with too much time on his hand.
And I am to be sworn in, as King of Sweden on May 7. Well, both scenarios are just as likely. 😆😉🤪😁😄😒😜
Chris, there are some excellent documentaries on elevators. Go to your library, get a DVD or book on elevators, & Learn something. Plenty of games on TV too, whatever sport you like. Or get a job, maybe. Find something to do.
Oh ok
Here is what's happening here: Elevator nutjob, painted himself into a corner by promising closings on either April 22 (which didn't happen), Or May 6 (which won't happen).
Now he's nervously pacing up back and forth, in his basement, thinking, "Oh man, now what do I do?".
May 6 is approaching soon, and we won't get any closings then, and he will have to come up with another excuse like those armageddon promising evangelists, who keep changing the Date (like someone mentioned in another thread).
Don't you people get it? Elevator nerd is just after clicks. He keeps copying and pasting the same nonsense here, and on about 10 other sites, claiming he is helping people. He isn't helping anyone. He is just repeating the information that others researched, so people will click on (and therefore Monetize) his videos. Ignore him, don't feed him, don't give him any attention.
Realistically, just a guess, of course, but I don't think there will be any new closings announced until Summers, maybe June, maybe July, because they will wait until all the currently liquidating stores dissolve out and then start the process over.
Obviously this original post is complete bologna, about liquidators needing a break, so I won't even dignify that garbage. Sears had 100's of stores liquidating simultaneously in 2019, with zero issues, so I doubt they will need a "break" when there are only 11 liquidating currently. GIVE ME A "BREAK", LMAO!!!!!
Also, OP, it's "conducting sales at other stores", not "other store", so why don't you familiarize yourself with the English language? There's more to life than elevators, loser. And nobody at corporate Told you anything. You frantically called all Sears, and some poor clerk just Said "ya, ya, sure, next list on May 6", just to get you off the phone and make you stop pestering them. Clown.
I heard the same. We probably have the same friends. Maybe even know each other.
Trying to figure out who is going to operate this new store. It doesn't mention an owner, so is corporate running it? Maybe corporate is trying to run it for awhile and then sell it. They need help, their HTS segment is slowly disappearing. At one time there was 1100 stores, now less than 300. That speaks volumes, or lack of volume depending on how you look at it.HTS squeezing the owners out and now corporate is opening stores?
I'd rather shop at "America's favorite store" Kmart.
Likely will not be able to shop in a brand new Kmart but soon you can shop in brand new Sears Hometowns! I forget where they are all located but here is one.

There will be a list, I talked to a DM and he confirmed it with me. He also specifically said that he cannot give out any detail until Thursday, May 6th
Oh ok sorry
LMAO!!!!!
The list posted last week wasn’t a leak. It was a guess! The guy even admitted so in his title. He GUESSED those stores “might” be on the next list. You know, the list that HASN’T been posted yet because It doesn’t exist.
No they won’t
Will they ever open new stores? I would love to shop in a brand new Kmart!
I guess 9 Sears & 6 Kmarts would announced closures next week
Yes I am joking.............just like the person who started this thread. Do you honestly believe what this person is writing? They spoke with someone at corporate and was told the liquidators needed a rest.
LMAO Just covering their a*s for the last piece of false information they posted which never did happen!
@1hfb+1awhNouE Not sure if you're joking or not, but that Kmart already closed last year.
I just got off the phone with the same person at corporate. It seems Kmart in Minot ND will be closing by 2022.
Lay your head on my shoulder. Whisper in my ear. Store closings
Good to hear some real insider information here for once!
Any word on how accurate the list someone leaked last week is?
So your step–sister’s ex–boyfriend’s next door neighbor’s dog groomer’s cat told you?
Cool story bro!
@1pua+1awhNouE Hopefully all of them. We've got to be getting to the end of all store closures here soon I hope.
What stores will be on the list?
