I've been at vmware for good amount of time and never seen this amount of promotions in a cycle. Is this to keep people happy before deal closes? Everything we do now is going to get second looks because it could be clues to what happens in coming months

Mike bike boy, what do you mean shares can add severance months?
Aahhhh, be calme down, before the storm... the tempest...i have seen the same at ca, including myself...by the way, take care of your vmw shares, they can add more severance months.. goooooood luck guys
myself a recent hire at SMTS level with TC I think at par with Staff-1 even after double digit raise. I feel pity for them. Waiting for my 1st yr RSU before I fly somewhere else.
The higher level promotions got delayed and a cycle or two were skipped. This was to make up for that.
I got RSUs but my raise was only in the single digits. Which is not at all like Kit said when he talked about this being the biggest investment year
All potential promotions were discussed and provisionally approved at a BU level back in April. The approvers/decision makers knew nothing of the acquisition at that point and percentages (or bell curve) is the same as it’s been in any previous cycle.
The number of promotions has literally nothing to do with the BC piece.
I’m hearing double digits raises - promotions and lots and lots of RSUs
I got a promotion which took ages to come through. I’m very happy with the change in salary too. I don’t plan to leave, but will be in the queue for the payout, the same as anyone with tenure.
I was expecting a promotion, especially since in the last 6 months I took over the responsibilities of a Director who left in Feb, and I am unofficially managing three AWFs without technically being a manager, but no, so..... I am out.
I got an 11% raise with a new title.
I haven't asked for it planning to get out.
It's not the best economic time to look for a high-paying job.
The promotion on the senior technical staff (staff and above) shows that they really want to keep the top engineers and hope they don't quit. The senior staff people that I have worked with at vmware are really top notch (many o have tons of patents). I don't really think they need to worry at all. If Broadcom takes care of top talent as many have mentioned, they will be fine. Of course, with their talent, they will find other jobs easily if they do decide to leave. It is the run of the mill engineers who need to worry.
Good economical move to buy time. The promotions and big raises do not last you forever. It last until the day, you are on the chopping block. (6 months? 1 year?) The fact is, layoff going to come and in big numbers. At the end, all these do not cause the company that much money to retain some controls until the day to come. People should not be happy. It is a sign.
Can you smell the desperation?
YOU get a promotion, YOU get a promotion, and YOU get a promotion.
Whatever you do, please please please don't quit...
(also, if you didn't get a promotion, ask yourself why...)
Everyone is posting on linkedln about promotions its crazy.
Same here. Promotions are up for sure. That and raises. While i get inflation, the raises usually lag inflation by at least 6 mos or a year. But hearing 6, 7 8 and 9% raises.
Trying to keep people happy, w no long term consequences to mgmr. They'll all be gone in a year anyway.
