Thread regarding Waters Corp. layoffs

Layoffs likely to come at end of Q2 (end of June)

Integration news letter states in the FAQs that org model to be complete at the end of Q2 which "in other cases, the changes may put some roles at risk of being eliminated".

@1pw yes things that should take a day or two typically resolve after a few weeks or months, it's terrible

@1pv is the Waters outsourced group as awful as the BD one? It is such a nightmare trying to deal with them when we have issues. Need to escalate upwards almost everytime. Not sure how much it's saving when it's double the work.......

@1ps not sure what the percentage is but somewhere around 200 jobs at least (almost all of web IT is GCC/India)

I'm curious how much of IT at Waters is already outsourced? BD outsourced essentially all of their IT way before the merger, except for maybe one or two US employees at a site to deal with whatever the offshore group can't (which is often a lot - the offshore group is unsurprisingly horrendously incompetent). Does Waters already do the same?

@fd most back office (accounting, finance) from BD will go to Milford or outsourced (it) this year. In the near term expect Ops to have a close look at - what can be cut will be.

Long term expect to hear new ex-US and China mfg site will mfg one then more lines of flow cytometers and reagents in the coming years. Expect San Jose one of the most expensive places to do business in the world to be a shell of what it used to be in 5-10 years.

A synergy valued at over $300 million roughly equals the elimination of 5,000 jobs.

Whenever leadership acquires new companies, Waters employees are typically the ones laid off. If they acquire overseas companies, they tend to fire American workers. I’m tired of this nonsense.

Mr. Batra indicated there will be $300+M synergy savings thru 2030, that’s a whole lot of downsizing!
