Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Threatened to show up at office more or face penalty?

Im getting emails form my bosses that upper management is looking at who comes to the office and those that aren't coming in will get consequences..

WTF... Is this high school or something.. Why the bullying now ??

I get it, no one likes being in the office - me too - but sounds like there is there is some confusion/misinformation. A few definitions below.

Bullying - seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce (someone perceived as vulnerable)

Insubordination - defiance of authority; refusal to obey orders

Employment At Will - an employer can terminate an employee at any time for any reason. An employer can change the terms of the employment relationship with no notice and no consequences.

The managers at the site I work at come in the morning, walk around for maybe one hour and the leave and go home to work.

Where is your work location? Wondering if they are tracking core locations like Charlotte.

The least the bank can do is notify employees at large that strict tracking will be taking place starting on x date and not adhering to the rules will result in x consequences.

If they try to retroactively apply this they will find that there will be consequences for the majority of employees.

They have never made it clear how sick/vacation days impact wfh days.

I have a co worker who was told it’s ok only to come in 2 days a week. Are there going to be consequences for that employee for following a manager approved situation?

The bank across the street is tracking 3 day office compliance on associate and manager scorecards. BofA probably next.

Are they cross referencing workday to see if you have vacation/personal time entered?

Nothing gets accomplished in office and people are noticeably less productive.

Read an article about the decline in worker productivity following the pandemic and "insert obnoxious corporate speak" about quite quitting. Asking your workers to incur additional expenses amid soaring inflation (commuting or daycare), poor compensation (low bonuses and raises), and to be just as productive in an open space office environment where the distractions are endless seems to be the root cause, but who am I to say.

Leaders would rather listen to an out of touch HR consulting group or mayor wanting workers to support the "local economy" than the majority of their workforce.

I hate working in the office nowadays because of this shared space configuration. People talk throughout the day and most of the time it's not work related. Desks are left dirty and are not cleaned and sanitized at the end of the day.

Going into the office is mentally draining. Im so sick of the bullying and fake consequences. How about monitor who really is doing work instead of who fu----g makes it in the office to work?

They’re just trying to put the pressure on now because summer is coming and they think more will work from home since kids will be out of school soon (and like everything, camps/daycare costs WAY more and is far more unaffordable now).

The office is ridiculously empty, the cafeteria options are nasty, I refuse to deal with the Petri dish open floor plan while managers have their own little offices to hide in for half the day before they finish the day from home.

It is crazy but what can you do. The building is empty 90% of the time. Bosses work 1 or 2 half days so their card gets read as here. Meanwhile the company hires temps (former employees) full time given wfh status. Oh and also made VP. The company has asked us to move our lives and families more than once while others never have to leave their homes. It doesn't make any sense but it is what it is.

oooh scary... how does this bank and it's entire management team (I refuse to call them "leaders") get away with bullying all of us and fostering a culture of intimidation?

While they simultaneously talk out their azzes about "wellness" and "life balance"?

If they stopped making me miserable, they could save tons of $$$ on all those wellness resources they blather on about.

They are making me sick. Mentally, emotionally and physically sick.

It's commonly referred to as "headcount reduction". If you don't come in as required, you will be place on a job search before you are terminated. I've been posting about it.
