Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

It's True

You are just a number to Accenture, no matter how much support you have from projects as well as good reviews. Their agenda now is to promote minorities so others they need money.

@1pef, totally agree. Sending few emails and talking about inclusion and diversity is not enough. We clearly see words and actions don't match. Also minorities are overlooked for promotion. Many companies have this issue but in ACN I've seen many imbeciles, brown-noser, insider and less qualified gets promoted.

I worked for Accenture for 5 years on 2 different projects. There are barely any minorities in leadership positions. The only way they keep their "diverse" numbers is by having alot of minorities in processing type positions. Many of these individuals have college degrees and joined Accenture with the hopes of being able to move forward. It doesn't happen. I have heard Accenture's grandstanding, but believe you me...when this is all over...it'll go right back to being like it was. That was the reason I got out.

What we do is hard work - you need to be smart on top of it. There is very little BS in what we do (OK, some MDs do not fit this)... Entitled folks avoid companies like Accenture. I honestly do not think we have a problem, we may strive to balance things better, that's always a good thing but I do not feel we have a problem.

Every team lead and manager I've had has been a minority race and/or a woman. This over 4 1/2 yrs - about 10 assignments throughout the US. Had one white man onsite as an overall Sr. project manager last year - he worked a lot of stressful hours like everyone else.

I really hate all this racial divide talk. Seems to come up every 4 years to influence politics. The only 'odd' person I've encountered from working with people from various continents - was a vendor who wouldn't shake my hand. He said he can't touch a woman. Didn't bother me, but he was very condescending to boot. Fortunately, I didn't get that assignment.

This whole minority comment is B.S. At Accenture, like most corporations, minorities are not promoted over others. Its actually quite the opposite. We are often overlooked, are not mentored and are often left to linger on the bench. At ACN, like most companies, you are promoted when leadership or management takes you under their wing. And who are older white men most likely to take under their wing? Younger white men – sometimes women – whom they feel a connect or affinity. The fact that you would say this, simply because the firm sent out a few emails about being inclusive, speaks to your privilege and institutionalized racism, nothing more.

Why are employees promoted to the point of being “too expensive” and unstaffable? Why drive out or fire talent and then replace it with cheap inexperienced hires? I really don’t know what the method to the madness is, pleasing shareholders aside.

Frankly, you are a number at any large org. The minorities agenda is a completely separate thing.
