Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Serves you right!

Never been happier to see this day/next week come! You people at corporate are arrogant, self-serving, haughty and downright incompetent on a daily basis not to mention the THOUSANDS of you with meaningless jobs that serve no purpose other than to serve as an excuse for you to buy fancy clothes and pack your schedules with silly meetings and coffees or those ridiculous 'status' sessions. Good riddance to the hundreds of talentless clowns who will find themselves on the streets next week.

The vast majority are unemployable for serious companies. If you're lucky, I MIGHT hire you to stock shelves at my store, but knowing how lazy and unproductive you were at corporate I highly doubt you'll suddenly change when doing Taget's "real work."

I'd wish you good luck, but you all have been like a millstone around our neck for years, and this comeuppance is sweet, deliciously sweet.

these comments are amazing-when I started working for Target the theme for christmas was "Its a wonderful life" you know Jimmy Stuart. Its a movie that could relate to our times. The point is there was a Target once that cared about hard work and the employee's. I don't think people at corporate have a clue as to what has been happening in the stores-just the bottom line right? pay homage to wall street right?

And some of these comments-because you went to collage-I went to collage for two years and it was a JOKE!

Whats scary is this whole US economy is a joke.We live in a phantom economy.

Anyone buy online and pickup in store? It's an exercise in frustration. How do I do that, where was that put aside? No amount of technology, marketing or product can overcome idiots like this person in the store. Not every store is full of idiots though just like HQ isn't. This chap better hope someone in TTS doesn't decide to do an IP trace on him. Might be a bit uncomfortable to explain when he gets a message next week.

Dear targetgoestitsup - please oh please don't punish me for finishing high school and going to college.

Do you understand a lot of hard working hourly people work at HQ? How dare you post such a thing when people are so worried about their lives. I normally would respond to such a negative person but this really bothers me.

Having led a store, worked in the field, and worked my way to HQ, this has to be the most ignorant, offensive comment I've seen, and if you're truly an STL I'm ashamed to call you one of my peers.

not all of us at corporate are like that. Some of us are struggling to make ends meet every day for our families. We work long and hard at jobs that we don't get paid enough for but we are thankful to have them just the same.

But this does point to the great divide between Target HQ in Mpls and all the stores. Like a great person said, "You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich." The overall point is Target is ONE team. I am an ex-Target HQ employee. And when I shop at my Target, I always straighten shelves and I always tell store staff when the shopping experience could be improved. One Team. Always.

You do know that in order to hit 2 billion in cost savings stores will be affected right?

Looks like a few took the bait on both sides of this rant. Everyone is on edge for numerous reasons. Take a breathe and really think if those reading this are truly responsible for the situation. Firing shots at each other accomplish....oh, nothing. Can understand the frustrations having worked in stores and hq, but the implanted beaurocracy is bigger than any one or two people. The structure and incentives have created this mess, getting out is ugly and painful. With that said the pain in the field is real...very real. The pain being felt by the individuals being laid off at hq is real...very real. Lots of pain to go around. Ranting at each other when so little blame can be pointed at any individual serves no real purpose. it is the result of failure of leaders to lead. Its corporate America. All we can do is be decent to each other during really rough times. Wishing you all the best and good luck!

Nothing like kicking a man while they are down. Personally, I've worked in stores and at HQ. If you haven't done both, don't speak out of ignorance, both groups are hardworking and serve a purpose.

If you truly want to make a difference, find solutions instead of casting stones.

This is a fake post. Just a Troll looking to anger people. If this is a current store employee, that person should have been fired long ago. Shame on the manager.

As a former Store Leader, your comment embarrasses me. Your arrogant, careless and negative comment gives a bad representation of stores. It sounds like you were wrongly hired or promoted as a leader and I feel bad for your team.

It makes me sad that we (Target) have store team members that are bitter and resentful like you CURRENTLY IN THE FIELD. People losing their jobs is not something to poke cynical, cruel remarks at. I seriously hope you don't manage people...

I would say that this is one of the problems we have currently. We're all on the same team. It's near sited people like you who get tunnel vision in thinking their own work is more important than somebody elses. We're all working for the same cause. HQ wouldn't be working without the stores, and the stores wouldn't be working without HQ. Your post is ridiculous and insulting. I truly hope if you work in a store they find a suitable replacement for yourself.

Right, stuff magically shows up at your store and people are driven there by the orderly way in which you've stocked the shelves. And they keep coming back because the stores are so clean and the staff is so helpful. There's a reason my severance will be more than your annual salary.

You nailed it on the stupid meetings, though.

Speaking as someone that worked in the store for 20 years, then got a job here at corporate fighting to get the stores what they need. I don't think you should paint with such a broad brush. Some of us do work very hard to support the stores.
