@1oyp+1s68yGte: It seems unfair but SAP has no other choice. They would sack us in Germany the same way as they are sacking you in NA, oh they would love to do that, it is just that they can‘t. If they were to cut the 2,600 jobs in Germany by just showing us the door, we would be suing and the employment court in Mannheim (to which SAP is a very frequent guest already) would then have a quick glance at the companies balance sheet (revenue and profit in the billions, stock price at an all-time-high) and sentence the company to rehire every single one of us after paying severance. It would be different if the company were struggling for survival but it could not be further from that.
The only way to get rid of us in Germany without risking a giant lawsuit that is destined to be lost is by making us an offer we cannot resist. Is it unfair? Probably. I really do not like seeing people in the US I have been working with for years suddenly disappear like this. However, it is certainly not our fault that your legislation failed to implement laws that protect your workforce.
@1oyp+1s68yGte because the German government give two fu--s about Thier citizens and have provided legislative cover for them
Why does Germany get the better VERP doesn't seem fair to other countries with VERP.
55
What is the age? Heard min age in NA was 59.
Omg. If the voluntary was offered where I live I’d be all over it.
It‘s basically gonna be the same as last time.
VERP based on years of service. More or less (there seems to be some ambiguity here) open to everyone old enough.
Voluntary program: Mutual agreement, that is, SAP can veto it if they want to keep you. First 10 years yield 2 monthly salaries per year. The next 10 years 1.5 monthly salaries per year. The rest 1 month per year. Capped at 40 monthly salaries.
The details will probably be published soon, either by SAP or the Works Council.
